Game 79 of 82: Utah Jazz vs. Memphis Grizzlies (36-43)
** Quin Snyder on the scoreless four-minute stretch late in the fourth quarter
We got good shots. You know, I mean, we had some clean looks, and you know, obviously [the Grizzlies] had a lot to do with it. You know, that’s one of the best defensive teams in the league, and I think [they’re] playing well…That was the kind of game that I was hopeful we’d be in. You know, obviously we would love to win it, but that’s the experience we want, that opportunity to compete.
** Snyder on Bryce Cotton’s performance and what he brings to the team
Yeah, I mean, he’s quick. I think the thing, I mean, I told him before one timeout when I thought he passed up — you know, I, when he gets a clean look, I want him to shoot it. You know, and they go under, I want him to shoot it. That — he’s a really good shooter. And I’ve seen him in practice. You know, we, you know, we’ve put him through the hundred shots, hundred threes, and, so there — I have a lot of confidence in him doing that, and, so I, obviously I thought his buckets were opportune when he got ’em, and we had a good stretch of pick and roll in transition in that second quarter, and he was, you know, a big part of the reason.
** Gordon Hayward on his free throws
Hit the first two. Those were the tough ones, so. Just missed the last one.
** Hayward on the game
You know, just, they made the plays and we didn’t, so.
Rudy Gobert on his salute: “It’s been a while, so I had to do it today.”
** Rudy Gobert on the game
We played hard the whole game. We did a couple mistakes first quarter, but except that, we played great. You know, we shared the ball. We played tough defense. We hustled on the rebounds. We got couple fouls, but that’s a very physical team, so I think we did a good job on this area of the game.
** Gobert, asked how badly he feels for Gordon Hayward
I think it’s frustrating, but you know, it’s a free throw. You can’t make every shot.
Shoutout to this guy.
** Rodney Hood, asked how badly he feels for Gordon Hayward
We shouldn’t have been in that position in the first place. We shoulda, you know, stretched out the lead a little bit. You know, made some plays on the defensive end, and you know, I mean, you know, we, everybody knows we got Gordon’s back.
** Hood, asked if he plays the “what if” game and wonders how his season would have gone if he’d been healthy the entire year
Yeah, sometimes I do. You know, but, you know, I just look forward to the future. Work hard and you know, try to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
