Game 77 of 82: Utah Jazz at Sacramento Kings (35-42)
** Quin Snyder on the rotation tonight
With Trey [Burke] out, and we, you know, we, I wanted to limit — [Derrick] Fav[ors]’s been playing a lot of minutes, as has Gordon [Hayward], so we wanted to play them a little bit less tonight, particularly on a back-to-back. … We got great contributions off the bench. We had that one stretch with Bryce [Cotton] and Chris [Johnson] and Eli[jah Millsap]. Jeremy [Evans] played terrific. So, it was neat to see some guys that, you know, haven’t traditionally played that many minutes get a chance to play and really compete and play hard. And that’s what we wanted.
** Snyder on Rodney Hood’s performance
He’s got a presence about him, and you know, you look at him when he’s got the ball, and you feel safe…I think the biggest thing for Rodney’s just not being tentative. And I think in part when he was out there without Gordon and Fav and — there’s a tendency sometimes for, like, all of us, you know, for a guy that’s 22 or a rookie to defer. And tonight, he wasn’t able to do that, and he didn’t.
** Rodney Hood on his fourth quarter
It felt great. You know, I was in foul trouble early second half, and you know, I watched my team–Bryce and Jeremy, and you know, guys coming off the bench playing big minutes, and you know, I just wanted to come in and have carryover and play hard and attack on the offensive end.
** Hood on what he’s seeing when he’s coming off the pick and roll
That’s something I had to learn. You know, coach Snyder’s been really teaching me. It’s to just play with different paces to the game. And you know, when you get in the lane, a lot of things open up. And you know, you just gotta be patient and not try to go 100 miles per hour all the time. And I think earlier in the season, I was just running over people in the paint, and now I’m just trying to, you know, use different shots and different passes, you know, to get my teammates open.
** Trevor Booker on the game
They tried to bully us a little, but we did a good job of holding our ground. They tried to make some runs. You know, they were neck-and-neck in that first half, but we pulled away a little bit in the second half.
** Booker, asked what the Jazz want to accomplish in the last five games
Just keep improving. Keep improving our chemistry. Just keep improving on everything.
