Game 52 of 82: Utah Jazz at New Orleans Pelicans (19-33)

** Quin Snyder, post-game
We’re better when we’re more aggressive. And we weren’t, we were a little soft in the first half, I thought, and just not as urgent. And you know, sometimes it takes us getting punched a few times before we figure it out, and we did. You know, they were making threes in the first half, and I thought our bigs got more aggressive in pick and roll too, and that helped. … This was one of those ones you kind of, was a fun game, especially the way it happened with Steve Novak having a big game. Ian Clark got in and blocked a shot. Everybody kinda had a contribution one way or the other.
** Derrick Favors on the front court of himself, Enes Kanter and Gordon Hayward
You know, the team look for us to, you know, go out there and lead, you know, whether it’s offense, defense, whatever. You know, and I think we did a good job. You know, Gordon got hot, Enes did a good job, and I think I did a good job out there too.
** Favors on Elijah Millsap’s performance
He played big tonight. You know, just his energy, his activity out there. You know, he helped us out a lot, just being active, you know, not really scoring that much, but just the little things he do, some of the stuff don’t even show up in the stat sheet. You know, he’s an important part of this win tonight.
** Gordon Hayward, post-game
You know, tonight I think I continued to be aggressive. Most nights in the past, I probably would have stopped shooting. I know I didn’t shoot the ball very well. We fought through a lot of adversity. I think, I’m thankful my teammates put me in the position that I could still score, so.
** Enes Kanter on how the game changed after halftime
I think, defense. The defense was the first thing, and you know, tonight, the, some, you know, guys came, on the bench, like Steve, Ian, you know, the, all the other guys and just pumped us up. And they were just really ready to play, and especially for the fourth quarter, we just really went out there and just went hard.
** Kanter on the front line of himself, Favors and Hayward
Big Three, man. Woooooo!…Big Three, man! No, I’m just playing. I mean, not just us three. This whole team is getting really all along well, and this chemistry’s getting there, and on both ends, defensively and offensively, and especially not just from the court. Off the court, we’re just, you know, we’re getting better friends too. So, it’s just gonna be really nice.
** Steve Novak on what was said at halftime
For whatever reason, we were a little bit flat [in the first half]. You know, our energy was just low. Obviously, we have come off of a four games in five nights kinda thing, and you know, there’s times when I guess you’re just gonna be flat. But our, we just weren’t emotional, and it’s just, it’s hard to win, especially on the road, when you’re, when you don’t have emotion. And for whatever reason at halftime, we were just kinda quiet, and I think we, you know — Quin is very good at striking the right nerve. And that doesn’t mean he comes in and, you know, yells at us every time. But he knows, he usually knows the feel of the team, and he knows the right thing to say, and once again, I think he just delivered the right message at halftime, and got us to come out and play better.
** Novak on the game and getting on the floor
It felt good, just to be out there, and playing, and you know, we got down a little bit tonight, and I mean, we just fought and fought and made shots, and Gordon just, you know, as he usually does, came up big, made big free throws, made big plays, stayed tough the whole time. … I feel very comfortable at the “three” spot. I think that’s probably the position I’m the most comfortable in, and so I was able to be on the perimeter tonight and knock some shots down.
