Game 81 of 82: Utah Jazz vs. Los Angeles Lakers (24-57)
This is how the Lakers’ night went:
And this play is representative of how the Jazz’s night went:
The thing is, I don’t think anyone on the Jazz from top to bottom was trying to lose this game…
** Tyrone Corbin on finishing the season strong
You are your brand, and you wanna make sure every night you step out there on the floor, you try and put the best foot forward, in your effort, first of all. And then the game will follow from there. So, we wanna make sure we come out and play a certain way.
** Corbin on the Burkcourt
In the last two games, one of the two guys have gotten in early foul trouble because of anxiety or whatever, the flow of the game, we’ve had to get away from it to come back to it. But, they’ve grown from the beginning of the year, during the course of the year to being able to now to start the game with them.

** Can Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors co-exist as starters?
I think as you’ve, as we’ve seen especially the last month, the, clearly those guys can play together. Enes is a good shooter; Derrick’s very good on the roll. Derrick can anchor, you know, our defensive schemes. You know, they both need to improve in several different areas. You know, I think Derrick’s a step or two away from being fully who he can be. You know, I think a lot of that has to do with energy and activity, something that we’re gonna coach him hard on in the off-season. Clearly, with Enes, you know, we have to improve him defensively, but there’s no question they can play together.
** What is Step 2 of “the plan”?
There’s multiple parts to it. You know, clearly, the salary cap [lends] flexibility, so we can react to a bunch of different alternatives. Look, if the right free agent wants to say yes, you know, the Millers are fully committed to, you know, funding this team all the way up to the luxury tax. And we have great ability to do so in the off-season with, you know, even with Gordon [Hayward]’s contract coming up, the ability to get him a number or match a number. And then, still have maximum flexibility…And then from there, the draft. It’s been a much talked-about draft. There’s a lot of strategy around there. Look, you know, we’re not married to any three of the picks, although all three are very good picks.
How To Make Your Boss Notice Your Hustle 101:
** Tyrone Corbin on the game
These guys have been through a lot this year, man, with all the talk about where we are and what y–what’s going on and what you’re trying to do, and it wears on them. And I thought tonight, we gave in to the talk a little bit…I thought we gave into it a little bit tonight.
** Corbin on what he’s taking away from the season
It’s been an interesting year, and you know, I have a lotta evaluating to do, that I wanna do for myself, and figure out what’s my next step.
** Trey Burke, asked if the team bought into “outside voices” tonight
No, I don’t think so. You know, I don’t think we bought into that. You know, we know what type of team we are. We know, you know, our strengths and our weaknesses. You know, we, bottom line is, we didn’t get stops…Nick Young got hot, and they ended up winning the game.
** Enes Kanter, asked if the team bought into “outside voices” tonight
People can talk. They can say whatever they wanna say, but you know, I think this team has a lot of friendship, and this team gonna stay together, I think. And you know, I think for next season, we gonna be more exper–we have more experience time, and for next season, we gonna be more focused, and gonna do better.
** Gordon Hayward, asked what he would say to the fans if this were his last home game in Utah
You know, thanks for all the support. I mean, it’s still, you know, we’re done, this is the last home game. We’re clearly not in the playoffs, and the fans are still out there cheering us on. I mean, that’s pretty special…So, just thank them for all the support they’ve given, and you know, we really appreciate it as a team.
** Hayward on what factors will affect his decision this off-season
I mean, it’s not, I mean, it’s not really up to me. I mean, it’s, you know, my agent, and then the front office. Hopefully we can get something done. You know, I will cross that bridge when we get there.
** Hayward, asked what he learned about himself this year
You know, I learned that I can be the guy. Just have to be more consistent, you know, so. I think that’s kind of a theme for our whole team.
Random Stuff, etc.
** Brandon Rush tweeted this earlier in the day, and then deleted it.
Rush is definitely the Jazz’s deleted tweets leader.

** Matt Harpring: If I’m Enes Kanter right now, or Derrick Favors, and I got Kelly guarding me, I’m licking my chops right now.
** Harpring to Craig Bolerjack: You give me vertigo sometimes.
** Dennis Lindsey on the draft: It’s always where you sit.
** Lindsey on the draft: Frankly, we like the players that we’re slotting.
** Bolerjack to Lindsey: You wanna take Matt’s spot, Dennis? Just move him on out of here. Lindsey: We can swap. Boler: Yeah, we’ll swap. Harpring: Oh, man.
** Harpring on having Lindsey on the broadcast: We can go all night. Boler: All night. Interesting stuff there from Dennis.
** Steve Brown on the first half: Nobody should read any lack of desire there at all.
** Harpring on Nick Young: He celebrates on every single shot he makes. He’s got the goggles. He’s got the tongue. You know, he’s got a lot of stuff, but sometimes you just gotta act like you’ve done it before.
** Boler on Nick Young taking a three-pointer with the Lakers up 17 and 1:49 remaining: I know what you’d probably do, is put Nick Young on his backside. Harpring: Absolutely. (H/T @Mark_R_Pereira)
