Game 51 of 82: Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Lakers (18-33)
Ugly basketball with a capital UGH.
The top moment of the game was probably when Richard Jefferson went running to the ref to tattle on Robert Sacre for spiking the ball. (Sacre was issued a tech.)
The top moment of the (very late) night, meanwhile, was probably Matt Harpring fixing his hair during a commercial break. And yes, I failed you all in not being able to capture the first 10 seconds, not to mention the whole screen.
** Tyrone Corbin, on the Jazz’s next game
Philly’s not gon be easy. And we gotta continue to work to continue to get better, man. And it’s a lot of things we gotta improve on…We can’t afford to relax tomorrow night, in our building.
** Derrick Favors on the game
We went out, played a good game, and you know, played as a team, and you know, executed our offense well, played defense well, and got a win.
** Favors on Jeremy Evans
I been telling him….”Hey Jeremy, you work on your jumper everyday. You know, go out there and shoot it, man. You miss, you just miss it, you know I’m saying? Just go out there and shoot.” And you know, I’m happy he found that confidence, just go out there when he get the ball and he open, just shoot it.
** Gordon Hayward on Alec Burks
We need Alec, especially to spark us off the bench. That’s what he’s coming off the bench for, and that always starts with energy with him. When he’s, you know, really engaged and active into the game, you can see from the get-go he’s gonna play well.
** Enes Kanter on how he’s historically played well against the Lakers in LA
Yeah, you know what? Yes. I’m trying to, you know, do my best, you know, ’cause Utah fans, you know, hate the Lakers. So I’m just trying to make ’em happy.
** Alec Burks on looking beyond the Philly game to the All-Star break
Don’t do that. If you do that, then you’ll lose. So you can’t do that. (1280)
Random Stuff, etc.
** During the post-game, Ty was asked to talk about “the growth of Alec’s game.” Ty’s response: “Burks?”
** I predict this towel re-emerges on eBay sometime in the future when Gordon Hayward is being sued for paternity:
** Rudy Gobert brings a new dimension to Jazz trash talk:
** Worlds (eras) colliding:
Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night (UDQM)
** Matt Harpring on the Jazz’s defense: Jazz a little soft. They started off good.
** Harpring on Kobe Bryant: That body can only last a certain time.
** Harpring, comparing Jordan Hill to Jeremy Evans: He just has more girth.
** Harpring: He can’t do it as often, but you see glimpses of the old Steve Nash.
** Harpring: I don’t know if Steve Nash is hurt. They go into Kaman once again.
