Game 33 of 82: Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers (9-24)
This was the ugliest basketball the Jazz have been a part of in recent memory, and it was tied at 90 before the Clippers closed the game on a 8-0 run. So there’s that.
This has nothing to do with anything.
** Tyrone Corbin on the game
I can’t say enough, I, you know, about our guys coming out after last night, and the effort we had tonight. And we made some mistakes down the stretch, but our performance overall is getting better™ and getting more consistent.
** Derrick Favors on his performance
I feel disappointed in myself, you know, I kinda got, got my head tooken out of the game there. But you know, I gotta be better than that…You can’t let [foul trouble] dictate how you play the game, and you know, I gotta come back better next game.
** Enes Kanter on having a strong game tonight
Like, last three, four games, I’ve been trying to more focus on defense. And you know, that’s what my, coach told me to do. You know, just defense. And you know, rebounds are really important.
** Kanter on seeing Al Jefferson in Utah on Monday
Are you going to write him another note?
He should send me a note. We beat him last time, so…
Random Stuff, etc.
** Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap (Paul + Al = Pal) sharing a laugh at the free throw line earlier tonight. Awwwww.
Big Al had 24 points and 23 rebounds and Millsap had 33 points and 13 rebounds in the Hawks’ overtime win over the Bobcats.
** People calling Trey Burke “Trey Bor-urke”: Craig Bolerjack
** People addressing Derrick Favors as “D-Favs”: Craig Bolerjack
** Things you like to see: As usual, Rudy Gobert didn’t get any time on the court (that’s not the part you like to see), but he wandered over to the huddle during a timeout late in the third quarter to see what was going on:
Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night (UDQM)
** Craig Bolerjack: Jefferson missing the front end.
** Matt Harpring: Richard Jefferson was waiting on Kanter to come. That’s what they’re talking about now.
** Harpring: When you bang and bang and then turn around and have that soft touch… (H/T @SLCJuanB)
** Harpring: Gotta turn around and mix it up after banging. (H/T @blazerdog38)
** Harpring: Banging gets really tiring. (H/T @RxMike12, @bjcseven)
** Clipper announcer: Leaner, put in nicely! (H/T @Mac_Jazz)
** Harpring on replay: Watch these guys bang down low here. Kanter’s big and strong. Blake Griffin’s big and strong. You bang, and then you gotta turn around and change it up, and have a soft shot. It’s a talent not many people have.
** Boler on Enes shot: Oh baby, yes! The big fella! (H/T @carlsston)
** Harpring: Favors has a lot more length than Kanter. (H/T @RxMike12, @UGottaLovItBaby)
** Thurl Bailey: Blake Griffin isn’t as good of a jump shooter as he is a guy who wants to come and put his body on you.
** Bailey: Sometimes Enes plays a little bit too straight up on guys. When they get to his body, he’s straight up. And that’s when Blake kinda went underneath him.
