Game 26 of 82: Utah Jazz vs. San Antonio Spurs (6-20)
Yes, the Jazz lost, but no one can ever take this Marvin Williams to Richard Jefferson alley-oop away from us.
The cherry on top? Neither Marv nor RJ was injured during or by the celebration!
** Tyrone Corbin on the Spurs
Well, they are the team that we thought they were. You know, they’re, that’s not surprising…That’s what veteran clubs do, and that’s what you gotta aspire to be.
** Corbin, asked whether it was a defensive, offensive, or whole-team letdown tonight
What do you mean?
You guys didn’t score a lot, per se. You were held to 100 points–
Well, that’s a pretty good team on the other side that we’re playing against.
** Corbin, asked why he went with John Lucas over Diante Garrett in the second half
I decided to go with him. *shrug*
** Corbin, asked what Enes Kanter needs to do to overcome his struggles
Playing. Playing, and figuring it out, and working, and trying to go to him, and you know, him just getting better™, and working at it. And it’ll turn for him.
** Trey Burke on what he learned from this game that he can use the next time he plays the Spurs
Just never relaxing, you know? There was a couple times where my man would get the ball up, soon as I turn my head, you know, the ball was already in his hands and he was shooting a layup. And that just goes to show what type of execution, what type of, you know, what type of system that they run. They believe in their system, and we can learn from playing against a team like that. You know, we could start using that and applying it to our offense.
** Burke on his relationship with LeBron James
[James and Dwyane Wade], I think I was in middle school when they was in the NBA…Me and LeBron, we text. We text, you know, during the tournament. You know, he te–we were texting during the summer. A couple months ago, you know, just, you know, little brief text messages. “How you doing,” things like that. You know, I got the opportunity to go to his camp going into my sophomore year at Michigan. So you know, it’s a mutual relationship.
** Gordon Hayward on where this game got out of hand
Two or three stretches…where we just had lack of focus. Can’t let a guy like [Matt] Bonner come in and get two wide-open threes. It’s the only thing he does. You know, so we gotta make sure that we take that away. It’s too easy.
** Worst media “question” of the night
Not bad cities to go visit for this next pre-Christmas road trip… (KALL, Utah Jazz)
Random Stuff, etc.
** Knock, knock.
Trey Burke groupies.
Trey Burke groupies who?
Trey Burke groupies who drink Sprite.
** Ever wondered what Andris Biedrin’s shoe/sock routine is? For tonight at least, it appears to be left sock, left Gucci shoe, right sock, right Gucci shoe. Yes, this is more exclusive content that you will totally, like, not find anywhere else.
** The Jazz have sent Rudy Gobert and Ian Clark to its D-League affiliate, the Bakersfield Jam…showing that Randy Rigby was indeed foreshadowing/leaking information/letting information slip during his interview this week.
Just Alec Burks being Alec Burks.

** Ron Boone: It surprised me the whistle was not blown there. He was out of control, and Jefferson was definitely there.
** Craig Bolerjack: And Hayward still shaking that right hand after Patty Mills gave it a whack.
** Steve Brown to Sidney Lowe on the Spurs: It doesn’t take long with these guys, does it? Lowe: No, obviously they’re an experienced ball club.
** Lowe on leaving Matt Bonner open: That was a mistake. We went too deep.
** Lowe on the game plan for the second half: We don’t have their hands on us they way they are on us. We gotta get up into ’em a little more. And just be active.
** Booner: This is one heck of a play here by Gordon. Watch him tuck it in now.
** Tyrone Corbin on the Spurs: They’re a veteran club, and they know what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. And they showed us.

** Craig Bolerjack: He muscles up too. Tony Parker, a great penetrator. (too=two)
** Boler: Burks deep, D, ow, there. (D, ow= Diaw)
To close: If you’ve been around long enough, you might remember I used to break down the Jazz’s win-loss record by uniform worn (in 2010, when the Jazz wore four different uniforms) and the color of Jerry Sloan’s tie (2011).
Here’s a breakdown for this season, 26 games in. Try not to be too impressed with my use of advanced analytics:
