On the Bulls game
We missed shots. You know, they’re a good defensive team, and I thought we did a good job on the defensive end by defending their players so they really didn’t make a lot of shots either.

On what it means to be getting Brandon Rush and Andris Biedrins back from injury
Well, more bodies. You know, more bodies. More options. Brandon being a guy that can make shots on the perimeter for us, so he can help us space the floor and stay out. He can shoot out to the 3-point line.

Andris is a rebounder, experienced guy who knows what to do on the floor there, and help us on the defensive end. So, and then offensively, he’s a really good passer for a big man, so you can put the ball in his hands on the elbow, let him make some shots for us. But again, they’ve been out for an extended amount of time, so now finding a rhythm with those guys back in there is gonna be a chore for us.

On having several days off
We need the rest. We need the practice. We need the repetition with the guys. We got so many guys that’s come back from the time we started, at the beginning of the year, to the middle of the sea–to the middle of the November, and now, to where we are now.

So to be able to get on the practice floor for a few days to be able to get some more repetition and some more things that we’re trying to put in. And it’s hard to do it on the fly with the guys. We tried it some and had some successes, had some fallbacks. But now we get a chance to get some repetition with our players.

On Gordon Hayward having traveled more distance on the court than anyone in the NBA according to SportsVU data
Well, the minutes. Yeah, and I, you know, because of where we’ve been, you know, starting off with 12, 10 guys, and now, you know, with guys working their way back into shape, and he being one guy we can put the ball in his hands at different positions that he play for us, I’ve had to increase his minutes on the floor.

So now, hopefully as we get more healthy, we can manage a little bit more of how much time he’s out on the floor.

On what the veteran presence of Richard Jefferson and Marvin Williams does for a young team
Oh, huge. Huge impact. It’s a calming effect for ’em because those guys have been through it. So they watch and see where situations get intense, where the more physical you can be. How much more in tune to what’s going on on the floor you have to be to have a chance to win tight ball games.

On the success the Phoenix Suns have been having this season
They, you know, they have more experience. And Jeff [Hornacek]’s done a good job with them. I’m not taking nothing away from what they’ve done with the guys. And they’ve followed him into a situation where they make shots. And you know, they speed the game up and if you try and play at their pace, they’re very good at how they play.

This will be his first full run, and we’re gonna monitor him a little bit and see how it goes. If he go, respond to the first part, we’ll go to the second part. And we’ll see how much contact he can have.

On the frustration of being injured in a contract year
Of course it’s on my mind, you know? And that’s why this injury was so frustrating, because I thought I was in really good shape before I sprained [my ankle], and so it’ll take a lot to get it back, but I’m ready for it. I know it’s my last year, and I’ll do everything to succeed.

What are you doing to stay sharp?
I still talk to the coaches a lot, and still watch the practices, and make sure, you know, you still know all the plays. What we’re running, what we’re doing on defense and offense.

So you’re still in there. You just can’t do it, you know? (KALL)

I love the softball questions. “Hey! Hey! Tyrone! Don’t you just LOVE VETS??”

I love the softball non-questions such as “You lost tonight, but you never stopped fighting” or “Another tough loss, but you guys stuck together”
