Game 5 of 82: Utah Jazz at Boston Celtics (0-5)
Three of the Jazz’s five losses have come at the hands of brand new NBA coaches: Jeff Hornacek (no NBA head coaching experience; second game as head coach); Brad Stevens (no NBA coaching experience; fifth game as head coach); and Jason Kidd (no coaching experience; second game as head coach).
The team is also now off to the worst start in Utah Jazz history (though this team has a ways to go before matching the New Orleans Jazz’s worst-ever start of 0-11 in their inaugural season). Even more impressively, the Jazz brought an end to Boston’s 290-game sellout streak tonight.
More fun: The Jazz/Tyrone Corbin were both Stevens and Kidd’s win virgin sacrifice. And once again, the worst record in the league is solely ours.
I stand by what I said (tweeted) during this game, though:
** Tyrone Corbin: Tough loss. Eight points in the second quarter. I thought we came off to, we got off to a pretty good start. But eight points in the second quarter cost you the ball game…I liked the fight at the end, but the focus in that second quarter really hurt us.
** Corbin talked about being short-handed on four separate occasions in his 2:42 post-game interview.
** Gordon Hayward: Whatever it is, we gotta figure it out. ‘Cause Chicago’s gonna be no different, Toronto’s gonna be no different, and each team will look to bury us. So, we gotta figure something out.
** Hayward on Brad Stevens: Coach, that’s one thing that he always did, when I was in college, you know, we moved the basketball from side to side, and usually when you do that, you get a good shot. You know, they ran out on us there in the game a little bit, and you know, we dug ourselves too deep a hole. (1280)
A look at Trey Burke and Jeremy Evans’ respective sideline styles:

** People still calling Alec Burks “Alex”: Matt Harpring. (H/T @5kl)
** Ron Boone is probably the most unintentionally funny dude in Jazzland:

What is going on behind BFFs Trey Burke and Jared Sullinger?!

** Boler: Gobert gave Kanter a blow. (H/T @RxMike12)
** Harpring: There’s nothing wrong with trying out new moves and figuring out how to score.
** Harpring: It’s not Ty’s fault. There’s nothing he can do.
