And Farewell to Three More Jazzmen…
Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll have agreed to terms with the Atlanta Hawks, while Earl Watson has agreed to terms with the Portland Trailblazers.
And with that, all links to the last good Jazz team are gone…within a period of just two years. Two years! We have much to look forward to this upcoming season and we may be ready to move on to the next chapter, but that doesn’t make it any less crazy.
Millsap on joining the Hawks and why he chose the Hawks:
“I’m excited. There are a lot of mixed emotions right now. After being with a team for seven years to go to another team it is different. It will probably take me a little time to get over it but I’m excited to be with the Hawks and I’m excited to play for them.” …
“That was one of the selling points, just the direction that they are headed in. I know they are not going to have a lot of the same team they had last year with a new coach and new players. The direction they are headed in is the direction that I’m headed in and that’s growth, continue to get better* and strive for that ultimate goal.” (AJC)
* H/T @Mare_Bear_Baum for the link and specifically “continue to get better.”
Best of luck to all three of these guys, and as I said in regards to Big Al, may the ESA cheer and welcome you when you return.
