Game 51 Jazz vs. Bulls: Late Game + Loss = Insult to Injury
** DeMarre Carroll on the birth of Burks-at-the-point: A lot of people didn’t never known him to handle the ball, but every day in practice we see him handling the ball and see him breaking down men and now, you know, somebody said one day in practice, “Man, Alec, you need to play the point.” And you know, I think coach heard him and he just decided to put him at the point and you know, now he really can be a true point guard at 6’6″, and that just make him more valuable.
** Paul Millsap on being the only guy left on the Jazz that played with Boozer: I look back, you know, it’s amazing. You know, people that came through this organization, the great friendships we had. To see that I’m the last one standing, you know, it’s amazing. You know, so hopefully I can continue to be here.
** Tyrone Corbin on finally getting to .500 for his career: Somebody, I thought, mentioned that last night and we are where we are right now more than anything else. I’m not looking for any personal accolade but to help this team continue to develop for this organization’s sake…Fortunately, we are where we are. We’re six games over .500 right now, and then I guess that brings us to .500 for the two years, but you know, we’ll continue to work and get better.
** Corbin on Carlos Boozer: [He] is a great guy, first of all. A great teammate, great guy to work with. Spent a lot of time working with him off the court outside games, but you know, he’s just a great human being and we really enjoyed the time we spent together here…The guy’s character, I mean, knowing Booz, he didn’t wanna miss games. You know, he wanted to be out there with his teammates. And it hurt him more than anything that he was hurt, and he couldn’t be out there helping his team. And I don’t know if the criticism was justified. If you’re hurt, you’re hurt. I mean, what can you do?
Dunk Contest Quotage
** Jeremy Evans on Sprite (i.e. Dunk Contest sponsor): I try to stay away from Sprite, man. Uh, you know, I love Sprite and uh, just, you know…
** Earl Watson on Evans and the dunk contest: Hopefully he has some creative things up his sleeve. He kind of fired me for Derrick Favors, so. Derrick Favors is his new dunk agent. [Shouldn’t you be there with him instead?] That’s my argument, but after he won the contest Derrick kind of snuck through the backdoor and stole him from me.*
** Tom Thibodeau:
“When you think of the Jazz, you just think of how hard they play and how unselfish, smart and tough (they are), and what they stand for. They’ve been a gold standard in the league for such a long time,” said Thibodeau, who coached his Bulls teams to wins two years ago and Friday.
“Obviously it started with Frank Layden, and you can’t say enough about what Jerry Sloan did as a coach,” Thibodeau added. “He stood for all the good things about this league — play hard, smart, tough, unselfish — a great leader, great coach, great person. You can’t say enough about him.” (DN)
** Tyrone Corbin, post-game mix tape: We didn’t make shots…Boozer’s a good player, man…They made their free throws down the stretch.
** Corbin on Millsap’s 3-point attempt at the end of the game: We were looking for a quick shot. You know, the first good look. Two or three [-pointer]. We had to foul them anyway, we were down four*…We needed the first good look at it, and we, you know, missed the shot. [Was that the play you drew up?] You have options to go to. The first guy’s not open, you go to the second guy. Second guy’s not open, you go to the third guy. [Millsap] was the guy that came open.
* As can be seen on the screencap above, the Jazz were down three, not four. Also, in my opinion, Millsap really wasn’t that open considering that he had to take a huge step backwards to create space to get off that fallaway jumper, which was taken four seconds into the possession directly off of the inbounds pass.
Random Stuff, etc.
** People still calling Alec Burks “Alex Burke”: Jon Barry and Mark Jones. People still calling Alec Burks “Alec Burke”: Also Jon Barry. (H/T @JazzmanJoey)

Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night (UDQM)
** Corbin on Hayward: We wanna make sure he’s healed enough to, if he take a blow, that he won’t have a setback.
** Jeremy Evans on where he finds inspiration for the dunk contest: Just watching videos. Other people doing it, and just trying to, you know, put your own twist to it.
** Millsap on Boozer: No hard feelings.
** Boler on Noah free throw: Unorthodox. Kind of brings it to his chin and then throws it in.
** Hayward: When I’m back in the back, I’ve got Mo Williams back there with me and he’s got a lot he can teach me.
** Harpring on Al: He’s getting hammered down there. Noah has his hands all over him.
** Harpring: Burks is having a hard time feeding Al Jefferson.
** Steve Brown to Favors, post-game: Did it feel good all the way to the end? Favors: I mean, to me, it felt good all the way to the end.
** Jon Barry: If he gets it going they’ll be riding him as much as they can. (H/T @Parksutt)
** ESPN on Marc Gasol jumphook: Marc Gasol, he does it down there. (H/T @edwin_nba)
