Game 47 Jazz vs. Trail Blazers: The Jazz are honing their craft…as escape artists
Comfortable double-digit lead for most of three quarters…and then the Jazz go and manage to score just seven points in 9.5 minutes in the 4th. Stop me if you’ve heard this before.
P.S. Enes Kanter again played just five minutes, and wasn’t subbed in for the 23 seconds of garbage time that Kevin Murphy and Jeremy Evans got.
** Tyrone Corbin on whether the “big 3” lineup appeals to him going forward: No. No.
** Corbin on what he told Enes Kanter about giving him just five minutes in the last game: I just told him, I told him during the game, I said, “Look, Imma hold off. Imma go with Paul [Millsap] right now.” So.
** Corbin on Damian Lillard: I’m surprised at how smart he is for a young point guard…maybe ’cause he went four years of college, he’s more mature that way.
** Corbin on whether Mark Eaton will be working more with Enes: We’ll see. We’ll see. He’s a part of the Jazz family, and he want to do as much as he can to help our guys grow.
** DeMarre Caroll: A lot of my teammates really appreciate me. You know, as far as that goes, even Al [Jefferson], you know, he came to me, ‘specially yesterday, he was like, “You know, we might not have a lot of, we looking like we don’t have a lot of energy. You know, we need you to get out there and do what you do.” And you know, and I take pride in that. You know, my team is coming here and asking me to bring energy, and be a blue-collar guy. I take pride in that.
** Marvin Williams: The coaches do a great job of sitting down and talking about how we’re going to play pick and roll on certain players.
** Paul Millsap on Wesley Matthews: If he trash talks and you go back at him, you know, he’s gonna, it kind of does something for him. So my main thing, I learned, don’t say nothing back to him.
** Wesley Matthews on trashing talking Paul: It’s just to him. Nah, I’m not gonna text him. Actually, I will. I probably will…He was like my old, my big brother here. He looked out for me, looked out to me. He still takes on that role.
** Ronnie Price on Millsap: He’s still my little bro. My little big bro.
** Corbin, on how the team played: You can deal with everything with a win, so. We have to get better in a lot of areas, but they are playing hard, and we’re playing a lot smarter, so we’ll continue to cont–work to get better.
** Corbin on Enes Kanter playing just five minutes: We feel good about all our, Jeremy [Evans] and Alec* [Burks] both, we just, uh, and Enes both. We just can’t find time for everybody to get into rhythm.
* Of course this time he says “Alec” instead of “Alex.”
** Big Al on Derrick Favors: Very young and athletic. I’m jealous of him ’cause of that. ‘Cause I’m getting old and I’m not athletic.
** Big Al joking about playing the point tomorrow: I’m gonna talk to coach about that. D-Fav, you don’t mind me playing point, do you?
Favors: You got it, dawg.
Al: My man. My man. Imma be a scoring point guard tho.
Favors: You gon be a scoring point?
Al: Pass it to the wing, cut it to the post.
Random Stuff, etc.

** Checketts on Hayward’s injury: He went to strip Paul George after George went up…and it went limp immediately.
** Boler: Up high goes Favors, and here comes Earl.
** Boler: DeMarre Carroll reaches out and grabs him.
** Harpring on Millsap: “Says, ‘I’m going straight in.’ … Nothing but bottoms. (H/T @bjcseven)
** Harpring on Lillard: He’s got superior quickness. Jamaal Tinsley’s having a hard time staying in front of him.
** Boler on Millsap: Oh. Sweet. Strokes it. Deep.
** Boler: More to come before this one’s over.
** Boler: Al, slides it out to Alec.
** Foye, post-game: I think the most important thing is to let Al, you know, and those guys, just keep pounding and pounding and pounding it.
