Game 26 Jazz at Nets: Escape from Brooklyn
There were so many sequences throughout the game, for both sides, that didn’t look anything like basketball. Yuck.
I have to ask: Does how you win matter, or is a win a win? I’m leaning towards the former at this moment. It seems like most of our wins this season are wins we just barely escaped with, rather than “we were the better team and dominated.” I hate to think that this could give the powers that be an excuse to delay conversations that should be had and/or be in denial about problems that need to be addressed. I know, I’m such a Debbie Downer.

** Deron Williams was quoted in the New York Daily News yesterday saying that he hasn’t been the same player in Brooklyn that he was in Utah, with blame assigned to a) injuries; b) the Nets failing to surround him with talent; 3) Avery Johnson’s system:

This is not a case of “the grass is always greener” or “hindsight is 20/20,” as some are saying. Deron simply found a way to air his grievances/complaints in a way that makes it seem like that’s not what he’s doing. It’s never him.

god, i have to say it again, Corbin has no clue. <<This is a travesty, give the talent. This is bad offensive basketball. Its becoming too disgraceful to watch.

On Deron’s comments: totally agree. The key is to blame the circumstance, not himself. Have we seen that before!
Jazz are actually pretty good on fastbreaks and secondary breaks, in my opinion. It is when the other team is scoring and they have to play half court O that things fall apart brutally. So, I totally agree they MUST improve both on O and on D, but I still wouldn’t say that there is no merit in the wins they got. There are both legitimate merit and legitimate reasons for concern. The jury is still out on whether there are also legitimate people. :P
@steppx I wouldn’t even call a lot of what we saw last night “basketball.” It looked more like “hot potato.”
@MAJ I almost spit water all over my keyboard when I got to the “legitimate people” reference lol. PS When I picture awesome Jazz fastbreaks, every single guy on the floor is a bench player (and I don’t even really have anything against the starters like most Jazz fans)…
Talk about the Jazz playing their way to burn away any sign of optimism. Damn. How you lose also matters.

If we can’t watch great Jazz basketball, we can still count on good old Randy to give us joke material. :)

Jefferson cannot be the center of the offense. You will win some games, beat a few bad teams but you will not improve over all. Corbin is a scared coach. So he yells for guys to make room for Big Al and thats it. Hayward has really been stunted in this situation and i wish for his sake he would be traded. The team should move both al and milsap. YOu get a lot in return. Play favors, kanter and hayward. Mo and Marvin williams. Let foye get 12 min off the bench. Play Burks. And use whatever you get in return —-but develop these guys. They cant sit forever watching sub .500 basketball and not start to have their own psyches damaged. And not to eventually forget how good hoop is played.
