Game 12 Jazz vs. Rockets: Win! Win win win!

November 20, 2012

How about that? A nice solid win. We did get a little lucky again injury/illness-wise, with James Harden under the weather* and sitting out the second half, but (or perhaps relatedly) we also didn’t get totally burned on pick and roll defense like I think we were all expecting.

* Things only Jazz fans are scared of: flu games.

While the slow starts continue to be a cause for concern (and by “slow,” I mean “the walking dead, going through the motions, of going through the motions”), the variations in lineups and creativity in substitutions continue to be cause for optimism and even excitement.

** Tyrone Corbin: We gotta get off to a better start. I’m not completely sold on the starts that we getting with the big group. Tonight, I think we were down 9-0.
** Marvin Williams on Derrick Favors’ early foul trouble: I was in the bathroom when the game started. I walked back out there, looked up, and D-Fav got his second foul. I hadn’t even sat down yet [and] had to get back into there.
** Randy Foye on his hot shooting: I’m a shooter, and I just try to open up the floor because our bigs are so good. We got Al, D-Fav, Turk, Paul. Our bigs are so good, so they help me. I help them, and they help me.
** Enes Kanter on how familiar he is with Omer Asik’s game: I’m really familiar, because when I was 15, overseas, we played the same team in overseas.

** Boler: That is the muscle of Paul Millsap.
** Boler: Millsap will slide it inside to Marvin Williams.
** Booner on Terrence Jones: Gets up very well himself. (H/T @Mac_Jazz)
** Boler: Alec Burks is going to take off the sweatpants.
** Boler: Even Kanter can get up.
** Boler: Oooh, a little slip and a slide for Evans.
** Boler: There were bodies banging… (H/T @bjcseven’s wife)
** Boler on Kanter: I thought he was going on the right side, but he went middle.
** Thurl: The Jazz had enough cushion to sustain it.
** Jamaal Tinsley on his three: It was the shot I needed tonight. It finally went in. I had to look upstairs, like, “Thank God.”
** Foye on Harden: I didn’t want him to get going, because I know how tough he is. I watched the game last night against the Lakers. I been watching him the whole year, and I know once he get going, he’s tough to stop. So my main thing was just to stay in him.
