Game 5 Jazz vs. Lakers: Randy Foye is the Lakers’ daddy
Despite the post title, I don’t want to talk about individual Jazz players. Every Jazzman that got on the floor tonight contributed to the win.
SUCK IT, LAKER FANS IN THE ESA!
The Chest Bump
This was one of the greatest moments in Jazz history. And it was reminiscent of one of the greatest moments in NBA history. After hitting his third trey, Randy Foye ran back down the court and (attempted to) chest bump Tyrone Corbin.
Randy Foye, on Tyrone Corbin, post-game (UDQM): He couldn’t get up as high as me.
Worth a second look? Hell yeah!
** Gordon Hayward on who would be elected the president of the Jazz: I’m going to put my vote in Paul [Millsap]. He’s been here the longest, so you know, he kind of represents what the Jazz are all about.
** Foye on who’s the president of the Jazz: Kevin O’Connor.
** Al Jefferson on the president and vice president of the Jazz: I have to go with Mo Williams for the president, ’cause he talk a lot. Vice president would probably be Paul, ’cause he don’t talk at all.
** Mo Williams, on whether he accepts Al’s nomination: Absolutely. I’d be very proud to serve my Utah Jazz teammates and organization.
** Derrick Favors’ thoughts on the election: I mean, I was happy. I was happy Obama won again. He was one of my favorites going in, so I was happy.
** Foye, pre-game: It’s great to be back at the Solution.
** Foye, post-game: [While on the road], that’s what we were saying the whole time: We can’t wait to get back to the Solution.
This was the first time I’ve heard anyone refer to the ESA as “The Solution.” I like it.
** Favors’ key to road wins: Just gotta start off good, you know? Can’t start off bad and come from behind. Just gotta start off with a good pace and you know, just keep it on the whole game.
I love Favors’ answers, the way he loves things that are “good and not boring.”
** Corbin on the 46-18 free throw discrepancy: It is what it is.
Random Stuff, etc.
** I didn’t see this, but “Jerry Sloan” was apparently trending worldwide after the game due to a multitude of disgruntled Laker fans on Twitter.
** It ain’t calculus, bro:
** Enes’ dunk:
Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night (UDQM)
** Foye, pre-game: Kevin O’Connor said to me, he said, “Hey, it’s gonna be loud in here tonight. You ready?” And, you know, if it’s coming from him, I know it’s definitely gonna be a packed house and it’s gonna be loud tonight.
** Harpring: The Jazz are doing exactly what they need to do. Go down on Kobe, get him tired. (H/T @5kl, @JazzmanJoey, @kgpogi)
** Boler: Dwight Howard goes back inside. It’s been a two-man game so far.
** Boler: Kanter, one pump, up again.
** Harpring: Howard likes to get back to his left hand. He’s actually left-handed. He does everything else except shoot the basketball with his left hand. So he’s much more comfortable. You won’t see him go right much.
** Harpring on Hayward: He’s squaring his body that time coming off. And as a right-handed shooter, you really have to make an emphasis on squaring up.
** Boler: Kobe has it knocked away by Marvin. Never saw him coming.
** Boler: Marvin Williams slides into Big Al.
** Boler: Kobe slides inside, and rolls it in with his right hand.
** Harpring on Mo: He is the vocal guy in the locker room that guys can get behind.
** Harpring on Favors: He almost had it, Boler. He was right there, just misplaced his hand by an inch.
** Foye, post-game: I gotta thank my teammates a lot…they just got me off. They just helped me get going.
** Big Al on Foye: He the type of guy when he get going, sometime he unstoppable.
** Big Al: When Randy got hot, I see more room on the inside, and more room to work.
