Summer League Game 3: Jazz “at” Magic

July 12, 2012

If Game 2 belonged to Alec Burks, Game 3 belonged to Jeremy Evans in his Summer League debut. Evans was his usual highlight reel self, throwing down dunk after dunk after dunk en route to 13 points (6-8) and 9 rebounds in 18 minutes. Enes Kanter also had a strong showing with 12 points and 12 rebounds. I hope Game 4 belongs to Enes.

Layden 1, Hornacek 1, Lowe 0.

Quotage
** Enes Kanter on the Jazz’s “new” guys: Let me tell you like that. When they came play for us, I know how they felt because when I come to Utah Jazz, I was like, didn’t know anything. Didn’t know anybody. I was like, feeling like, a little bit different. You know what I mean?

I know they feeling like that too, but now even in practice if I see like something wrong, I’m trying to help them because when I was in Utah, Al Jefferson, Millsap help me a lot, you know? But now I’m trying to help them. If I see something wrong in practice or on the court, off the court, I’m trying to help them in every way.

** Blake Ahearn: I know what to expect and I’ve been through it, so I just try to help some of the younger guys, kind of with questions or if they’re frustrated with certain things. You gotta worry about what you can control instead of what you can’t, so that’s a big deal in this league.

** Blake Ahearn: I’ve been with three teams, kind of bouncing around and looking for a chance to stick. I feel like I’m doing everything I possibly can to earn a spot, and just kinda hope I catch a break.

** Alec Burks on why he decided to play in the summer league after a successful rookie season, and what he hopes to get out of it: Just to get better, you know? It was strongly suggested that I come down here and play, so I’m just trying to get better.

(Utah Jazz)

There is no reason for this pic of Michael Stockton, other than I just can’t help loving him.

Interviewer: How nice is it to just be able to get some five-on-five action under your belt?
Kanter: It’s really nice. Like I said, I couldn’t play in college. Now I have to play two times harder.
