Game 34 vs. HOU: Happy Jeremy Evans Day!
It was Jeremy Evans Day in Utah. The governor declared it so, but not everyone was enthused.
About the game: I have mixed feelings about this win, namely…
Due to a combination of the aforementioned injuries and the Jazz keeping their lead in the fourth quarter, DeMarre Carroll got his first minutes and first bucket as a Jazzman in the final minutes of the game:
** Earl Watson on the Jazz’s team defense, post-game: Al Jefferson. Al Jefferson was the anchor. He was that guy that was vocal ’cause he can see the whole court. Defensively, I think this was the most vocal I’ve ever heard him be was tonight, and he was key to all that success, and his energy was there. Talking, being supportive, communicating, figuring things out. He was key…he’s growing defensively. Covering the pick and roll, he was talking, he was showing, he was busting his butt. (2)
** Al Jefferson, post-game: That’s the Devin I used to love and hate. (3)
Alec Burks, whatcha doin’? (from the Trib):
Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night (UDQM)
** Corbin on Kyle Lowry: He’s a big-body guard. He’s a great ball-handler. He’s a good spot-up shooter. He’s gonna have the ball in his hands a lot so you gotta make sure you on his body some, at times you gotta get off his body.
** Harpring to Boler: I saw you grooving a little bit in Cancun, maybe a little bit too hard.
** Harpring: I thought Scola went into Favors…Favors does lean in a little bit though.
** Scott Layden on Josh Howard: He got loose balls. (H/T @_alexisholt)
** Boler: Earl turns his head and pushes.
** Boler: Evans sliiiiiiiides his way inside for two more.
** Harpring on heads on sticks: I want to see Lebron’s, I want to see Wade’s…
** KFAN guy to Favors, post-game: [Ty Corbin] says he wants you to be big in the middle. Did you feel you were big in the middle tonight?
** Corbin on Favors, post-game: He did a good job of being big inside.
** Big Al: I was just hittin’ open guys.
