All-Star Saturday Odds and Ends
Warning: This post is going to be image-heavy. There are just too many awesome pictures to choose from and I can’t choose.
So happy for Jeremy Evans! He’s such a nice, unassuming kid and hopefully this will not be the last time we see him out of his warmups this season (*cough* Ty *cough*).
Derrick Favors on Friday: I’m happy for Jeremy. He hasn’t stopped smiling yet since we been out here. I’m excited for him. (KFAN)
Two. First dunk: Meh. This is what happens when bona fide dunkers feel pressure (I’m looking at you, NBA) to prop-ize and gimmick-ize their dunks.
The underlying, “workings of the universe” explanation for what went wrong, however, is this:
Three. Second dunk: No doubt the dunk that got Jeremy’s dunk contest campaign rolling.
Let’s give Gordon Hayward some credit for throwing the balls to Jeremy perfectly. Also, let’s let our juvenile sides giggle at this:
Four. Third dunk: Tribute to the Mailman. I *literally* cannot put into words how happy and heartwarmed (yes, I just made up that word) I felt to see Jeremy paying homage to Karl Malone with the jersey and the behind-the-head slam dunk. And it was his own idea too!
To me, this was the highlight of the night. And that Jeremy did this, and thought to do this, makes me love him even more.
If anyone is wondering whether Karl ever wore the green alternate jersey: Yes, he did.
Five. Dwight Howard spent some time talking to Jeremy on Friday about his dunks. Jeremy Evans, unintentional dirty quote machine (H/T @clintonite33):
Earl Watson, awesome teammate:
Seven. This has nothing to do with Jeremy (Evans), but I just wanted to post this Jeremy Lin cookie my friend brought to dinner last night:
Also technically irrelevant to this post: The fan (“Doc”) that provided Karl with his seat at the San Antonio game was interviewed about that night. I tacked the transcript onto the “Malone for President Poster” post yesterday if anyone wants to read it.
