Couple of Bits on Hayward, Big Al, and Favors
Gordon Hayward was interviewed on KALL and asked who would win the Skills Competition, Dunk Contest, and Three-Point Shootout in a hypothetical All-Star Weekend Utah Jazz Challenge.
1) Dunk Contest: Definitely Jeremy Evans, by far and away…one of the quickest jumpers I’ve ever seen, and he jumps pretty high too. So he’s definitely going to win the Dunk Contest.
2) Skills Challenge: I’m going to have to go with Andrei. He just can do a little bit of everything, and he can dribble, he can pass. He’s got some ridiculous, ridiculous passes, and he can also get up there and dunk and shoot a little bit too. So I’m going to have to go with him for the Skills Challenge.
3) Three-Point Contest: I’m going to have to give that one to CJ.*
*After being told that it’s ok to choose himself, Gordon changed his answer to himself for the three-point contest.
Al Jefferson Seems like a lot of fans (or perhaps just a few very vocal fans) have been throwing out trade proposals involving Big Al since the season ended. I’m inclined to give him at least another season to acclimate to the Jazz’s system (and by “system,” I mean the shredded dregs of what is left of our system), and by all accounts, he was basically living at the Jazz’s special workout facility (P3) after the season ended. According to P3, “Al Jefferson is making huge physical gains this off-season at P3.”
@dianaallen lists the reasons she likes Big Al in this post. Read it, because she says it better than I could.
Derrick Favors Also from P3, we get another reason to be excited: “Derrick Favors is one of the most powerful athletes P3 has tested and trained.” (It goes on to list his shortcomings, which you can go read yourself if excitement doesn’t sit well with you.)
