NBA Playoffs R1 and R2: Who Dressed Them?!
Last year, it was all about plaid and not much else.
This year, we’ve gotten a little more variety. Well, with the exception of Tim Duncan. I’m sure it does not surprise anyone that he either doesn’t know or doesn’t give a crap that plaid is so last year:
So, what trends have we seen from our generally fashion-challenged NBA players this Playoffs? Let’s start with the one that has garnered the most attention so far.
** Kevin Durant’s backpack:
And what was behind this decision? Well, it was apparently a case of “because I wanted to”:
** Rajon Rondo’s unhealthy and financially unwise love for Louis Vuitton continues to burn unabated…
** ..while Z-Bo loves his Polo like Rajon loves his Vuitton*:
*Yes, I’m a poet. Thanks for noticing.
** Scott Brooks loves his friendship bracelets. Like me, you might question why a grown man wears these. My guess: He’s appealing to the fans he won over with his turn as “Travis” in “Clueless.”
** Too cheap to replace clothes that shrank in the wash:
** Chris Paul was the first (and so far only) NBA player to pimp his kid at the podium:
** Lebron James and Dwayyayne Wade are always together…
…and they make poor Christopher Bosh play by himself:
Now, I’m going to hand out some awards just because I can.
** Most Authentic Male Stripper Costume: Dwight Howard
** Most Authentic Homeless Costume: Joakim Noah
** Mr. Consistency aka Mr. Boring, winner: Eric Spoelstra
** Mr. Consistency, runner-up: Stan Van Gundy. Stan was the frontrunner for this award in the early going, but then he decided to switch it up after Game 4 and, well, the result is that he lost to Spoelstra.
** Best Exemplifies Euro Style, Conservative Division: Dirk Nowitzki. The pics are in order, and it’s interesting to note that Dirk was clearly in a more adventurous state of mind (and by “adventurous” I mean “wore stripes”) at the start of the Playoffs.
** Best Exemplifies Euro Style, Lounge Singer Division: Manu Ginobili. Always just one more button undone than you’d expect. That’s our their Manu.
** Does Most Justice to a T-shirt: Danny Granger
** Best Use of Color: Lionel Hollins (If you’re going to “click to enlarge” any of the pics in this post, this one is it.)
** Most unused to his presence being requested at the podium: Co-winners Ty Lawson and Arron Afflalo
** Most valiant effort to match wardrobe to team colors: Tom Thibodeau
Freaking hilarious. Great laughs to start my week!
This is pretty much my favorite post ever.
Also, Danny Granger is a good-looking guy. Chris Paul too. Joakim Noah, on the other hand…
Finally, KD is totally right about the DC thing. I personally hardly go anywhere without my “bookbag.”
Hopefully, the choices made at this year’s NBA Draft will give me something even better to post about.
p.s. Danny Granger is a good-looking guy. The Denver Nuggets, on the other hand…
