Game 81 at NOH: Jazz Win!
Actually, the title should read, “Jazz win, but I didn’t get to watch the second half because my oldest friend chose a game day to get married.”
It was the first time all season that the Jazz led from tip to finish, and their 10-point halftime lead was a product of 1) horrid Hornets shooting; 2) decent execution and defense; 3) CJ’s shot being functional (this was only the third game since his 40-point night that CJ’s shot over 42%). It was also great fun watching the 3-rookie lineup that played early in the 2nd.
I had to leave at halftime, so I recruited an extremely reluctant and unwilling C [Spurs fan] to guest-blog during the second half.
Here are her observations (jotted down on the back of a New York Times crossword puzzle which she asked me to return to her):
–Andre’s (sic) AT&T “Keys to the Game” spot was the funniest moment of the second half
–Maybe Andre (sic) was calling Hayward to discuss their mutual haircut
–They asked which three Jazz HOFers played in New Orleans. I got Pete Maravich right. The other two were somebody Bellamy and somebody somebody.
–Tyrone’s suit is ugly and it matches the Hornets’ lettering on the baseline and colors in the key…
–…as does Harpring’s tie
–The stupid announcers think the Hornets have no chance against the Lakers but yes against the Spurs
–Nice dunk and block at the end of the 3rd quarter
–Yay for Francisco’s three straight buckets. Last time he scored was March 5th.
–Gray from the Hornets has the same hair as Andre (sic) but not as shaggy
–Where’s Andre (sic)? He’s the only Jazz player I recognize. Besides Francisco of course, because he was a Spur.
To close, I have a question for Ty Corbin. The Jazz were super shorthanded. Foul trouble was not an issue. Millsap lost an eye and Big Al had four fouls. We’re not jostling for post-season seeding. This was the second-to-last game of the season. WHAT’S UP WITH FAVORS’ PALTRY 23 MINUTES??? Please don’t jackpot around with our future. Thank you very much.
Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night
** Boler on Hayward: I like the strength of this rookie. He’s able to push it up and in.
** Matty: Jazz fans, still can’t watch the game at your house? Maybe you should come to my house…for all your HDTV…needs.
** Matty: That’s how you finish, Boler, that’s how you finish. You don’t go up soft.
** Matty on Millsap: He’s got a unique ability to contort his body to find a way for the ball to go in.
** Boler to CJ, post-game: Little head down lately, just because of a bit of a slump…Stroked it well, and you seemed to work the ball inside and out tonight. (IMO, this one is an instant classic.)
