Prior to the start of the season, several sites, including Basketball Prospectus, dissected the NBA schedule and found that the number of back-to-back games each team played ranged from 15 to 23 (which is hugely inequitable in my opinion). Chicago, Milwaukee, and Atlanta all had 23 back-to-backs, while the Lakers were the only team to only have 15.
Yesterday, I was looking at the conference standings and saw this:
We’re more than one-third of the way through the season, and the Lakers have had a ridiculously, ludicrously easy schedule. They’ve only had to play five games so far against winning teams, while every. other. team. in. the. league has had to play at least ten, and as many as 17. (Milwaukee is one of the ones with 17. The Bucks so got shafted by the league.)
I’m not going to start spouting conspiracy theories or claim that the NBA is fixed, but you absolutely cannot convince me that David Stern does NOT tweak and manipulate factors to help produce the results that he wants.
P.S. Speaking of LAL and the NBA, can Phil Jackass just STFU? Really, you-who-call-yourself-the-Zen-Master? You’re complaining about the NBA’s lack of respect for Christian holidays? Can we get through just one week without being subjected to your ever-growing douchery?
