If you don’t love Francisco Elson now, you will after this

You probably already love Francisco Elson after tonight, but if you don’t, you will after watching this. You won’t be able to help yourself. On the court, he’s all mean, nasty, tough, and grumpy old man. Off the court, dude is hilarious and immensely likeable.

In the video, he takes KSL‘s Rod Zundel shopping at a Dutch grocery store in SLC. You get to hear a little about his background (he’s 1/4 Chinese and 1/4 Indian/Pakistani!), find out how he would call the game if he dunked at the buzzer to win the NBA Finals (in Dutch; one of my favorite player moments ever), get introduced to the snack that he eats to forget about how Jerry yelled at him at practice that day, and how he gave Raja some Dutch licorice and Raja spat it out (“He’s lucky he’s on my team…”)

All the Jazz-related All-Star talk so far this season has centered on Deron, possibly Al Jefferson, and Paul Millsap’s exclusion from the ballot. 1/2 Chinese-Indian Francisco Elson might now be our best bet for Jazz representation at the All-Star Game. (Are fans in China allowed to cast write-in votes? Are fans in India allowed to vote, aka is the NBA trying to tap that (market) yet?)

華人球迷! 之前知不知道 Francisco Elson 是四分之一中國人? 如果姚明今年無法參加名星賽, 就讓Elson來代表華人好不好?投Elson一票! :)

(If anyone wants to contribute a Hindi plea, let me know haha.)

Update:
At the request of @theshums, here is Francisco’s stare gif’ed up:

This is great and I can certainly relate. I worked 11 years in Luxembourg, couple hours drive from the Netherlands and had a similar experience. Went years without many of the basic goods typical to the U.S., UNTIL…a tiny “American Store” opened up. I went there all the time.

I didn’t care that the Aunt Jemima pancake mix and syrup were expired by the time this store got them–it was heaven. I think they even had root beer now and then, which I had some of my colleagues taste–same reaction as Raja.
They said it tastes like medicine.

I hope they never let him go. The Jazz should have a reality show with Fess, Cisco, and Ostertag
