Off-Day Odds and Ends

February 28, 2010

1. A couple of days ago, I came across a picture of a Facebook friend with someone she’d tagged “Curtis Stone.” Per Wikipedia, Stone is “an Australian celebrity chef, author and television personality.” The reason he caught my eye? Because he’s seriously a dead ringer for AK.

2. CJ’s tweet(s) about how he’s been agonizing over his play of late and apologizing to fans did give me pause for thought and make me feel bad about some of the things I say/think and my need to rant (this blog wouldn’t exist if not for Carlos Boozer that part of my personality). I might, conceivably, think twice in the future about the words that come out of my keyboard.

It was good to see CJ playing better and with more confidence in the last two games. At the end of the day, we(=Jazz fans) all want our boy to do well.

3. I’ll let the tag do the talking for me on this one:

4. Deron’s shot chart for the season, and for the last five games before yesterday (it’s been a tough month: seven of the eight blue zones on the right are 0-for’s):

5. Finally, just an awesome picture I came across while googling for something or other:

    Micro rant;

I try to not say things that will overtly hurt the feelings and or especially the performance of our team even if they did read them. Dont’ mean I haven’t in the past or won’t in the future. But for the most part they come on the heat of the moment over what I perceive to be a stupit decision during a game by the player/coach/team.

As a fan I judge the team/players based on what they did the last game/play. Meaning you are only as good as your last performance. I do not think I’m alone with such thoughts. After all I’m just a fan and my only investment is my hopes and emotions, all totally selfish.

Though young men, they are in the big league and get paid to be much better than the also rans. So I don’t feel guilt if I do happen to pick on one or all for not playing up to the level expected or even close to their ability now and again. I also know that no single play, even game changing, makes a player or a teams season. I suppose such is what brings me back for the next game and the next season.

I feel no need to hear an apology from the players either, with certain exceptions, and they would be rare. All I see such doing is placing even greater pressure on the player and increasing our expectations for his performance in the future.

You guys play hard, I’ll root hard. Together we will aim for the big ring!

Well said, TazzJazzFan, regarding “Well said, RRR” :-)

Tazz…what exactly is a “demotivational made”?

As for curses, we’ll see what the future holds for us.

BTW, is this Curtis Stone bloke famous?

Yeah, Curtis is famous here and in the UK (he’s a mate of The Naked Chef, Jamie Oliver) – I’m mad that I never saw the lookey-likey with AK before.

And the picture of Horny makes a great Demotivational poster. I’ll use it in the game thread today ;)

i would think it’d made a great motivational (rather than de-motivational) poster.

“if someone without knees can dive for the ball, why can’t you?”
