Game 28 – Welcome Back Mr. Williams

December 21, 2008

Before the game, I predicted some clutch, clutch, end-of-the-game shots from Memo. As the night unfolded, every time I knew his shot was going in, it missed. Oh well. So much for my predictive abilities.

They cut to Boozer on the bench several times. Each time, he looked happy and cheery and was jawing away. I’m just saying.

DWill fell to the floor so many times, it was scary. But in the end, this game was the one that showed he is back. (In line with my previous statement, “No one can pronounce DWill “back” until he tries to dunk,” I will wait until that happens to pronounce him “definitely back.”)

Plot B was that Sap’s double-double streak was in jeopardy–only 6 boards at the end of regulation–and he wouldn’t have gotten it had the game not gone into OT (and later, 2OT–so it felt like there was a good half hour when there was no air in the room no matter how hard I tried to breathe). That’s 14 straight for those keeping count (Hello Boler).

Detroit’s Plot A? Four Pistons fouled out, including one at the end of the game and three in OT. Man I was so glad not to be a Pistons fans or else, as one guy said in their game thread, “I’m going to punch the first referee I see.” KK hit a huge shot to put the Jazz up at the end and Sap and AK’s FTs sealed the game.

I noticed during this game that Tyrone gets as excited as anyone about big shots or great plays, jumping off the bench, pumping his fists and the whole shebang. Pretty cool to see.

Im tired of getting beat by Utah. Bedhair always kills us. Please, Sheed, not tonight.

Who is that devastatingly handsome man who just checked in for the Jazz? I’m a straight man, but my god he is beautiful.
Sean W. – Dec 19th, 2008 at 8:36 pm

Rob G – Dec 19th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
No, this is a sober assessment. Ashton Korver? Is that his name? He’s dreamy.

I’m sick of hearing about dwill or cp3. That’s silly. Now dwill or rs3…
Jim – Dec 19th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Forty…Completely agree.

Deron I was kidding, make it stop!
Garrett – Dec 19th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
I never watch Deron Williams play, but he’s pretty good at the game of basketball.
Other Matt – Dec 19th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Bah! I blame you Forty.
Forty – Dec 19th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Deron – we get it. You’re the greatest pg in the universe. I’m sorry. Now stop it!
Forty – Dec 19th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Rob g: concentrate on dwill going back to the bench. If we combine our powers, we can do this.

Garrett – Dec 19th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
We’re getting Memo’d. Dayum.
Joel – Dec 19th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Why does Utah own us? I just don’t get it. This is like half a decade now. Even when we were the shit, these guys owned us. Makes no sense. D-Williams looks all-world.
Jim – Dec 19th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
F*YKING Deron Williams
Shinons – Dec 19th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Shit. No more talking bad about D-Will on DBB.

I’m from Iowa. I apologize to everyone for Kyle Korver.

Bits and pieces:
DWill on KK’s 3 in 2OT: “I was so ecstatic,” said Williams, who drove and found Korver for the shot. “I didn’t know if I had another overtime in me. So I’m glad he did it.” (source) Sap also talked after the game about how tired he was. Let’s hope they got a lot of rest last night and that fatigue won’t be a factor in the on-the-road back-to-back.

DWill on Rose: “I feel like he’s a big reason [of] the bad start to my season,” Williams said. “But he didn’t do it on purpose. It’s not like he tried to sprain my ankle.” (source) Please DWill, dunk on him today. That would just be perfection.

Ordered to shut the hell up: Boozer has been told by Jazz management not to further discuss contract matters. “I’ve been instructed to say that the front office with the Jazz and my agent will work everything else out, and I’ll do my input this summer,” he said. (source)

So, the Jazz’ pwnage of Detroit continues…
