Post-Game Quotage
** Tyrone Corbin on whether the Jazz made the right basketball plays
We had some good looks. We missed shots; they made shots down that stretch.
** Corbin on Dirk Nowitzki’s performance
Dirk was, in my opinion, was spectacular. And I tried a lot of different coverages on him, and he still made tough shots.
** Corbin on the Jazz’s defense
Once you in the pick and roll and you get in the rotation, you gonna give up something, and we gave up the shot that they made. We had the same shots on the other end. We missed ‘em. So, it’s playing the game.
** Corbin, asked about the good job the Jazz did against the Mavericks’ ball-screen game
We knew it would be a lot of ‘em. We tried different coverages on ‘em, and I thought the communication for the most part was pretty good. We made some slip-ups a little bit…but I thought that we closed it out pretty good. They just made some tough shots.

** Gordon Hayward, asked how the Jazz did against the Mavericks’ ball screens
Not too good. You know, we let Dirk get off three or four wide-open looks early in the game and that probably got him rolling a little bit. Especially against a veteran team, when you let ‘em start to feel good, you know, you know it’s gonna be a long night for you. And they closed the game with it as well.
** Hayward, asked if he was frustrated about getting benched at the end of the game
You want to be in the game. But, just wasn’t hitting shots. So, it was coach’s decision.
** Derrick Favors on the loss
It’s frustrating, but you know, it’s stuff we can’t control, you know? They came out, made a lot of shots, made a lot of big shots, you know? We played hard, but you know, it’s stuff we can’t control.
** Favors, asked what are the steps a young team needs to take to move forward
Just keep playing harder, man. You know, you can’t control a lot of stuff on the court, man. You miss shots, you make shots, whatever, but you know, just continue to play hard.
** Enes Kanter, asked if there’s anything to do against Nowitzki except tip your hat
You cannot do anything. I mean, he just, you know, like, step-back shots with one foot, and fadeaway. I mean, you just can’t do nothing about it.
** Trey Burke, asked about “having to live with” someone else taking the shot when the team doubled Nowitzi
I felt like, you know, we did a good job, you know, in our rotations tonight. But you know, I can’t stress the fact, you know, they made shots, man. You’re not gon have too many teams come in after a back-to-back and they’re just making shots, on their open shots. And they did, so I mean, you gotta give their ha–you know, take your hats off to them, and you just gotta get ready for the next one.
** Jeremy Evans, asked about guarding Nowitzki
For me, I love it. Just because I feel like every night, I’m going against great players and I take the challenge and I feel like that makes me better.

Random Stuff, etc.

** Matt Harpring on Nowitzki: He’s going to put the other leg up in the air to create space.
** Harpring, in response to Craig Bolerjack mentioning his 112 career blocks: Oh my! Boler! That’s huge!
Boler: I mean, I don’t get it.
Harpring: That’s big…That’s more than I thought. I’m impressed.
** Boler, on Jeremy Evans playing with nose plugs: You’ve been in that position before.
Harpring: Oh, I have. And what happens is, it’s hard to breathe through. So you get into the up and down game, it becomes very difficult to get your breath.
** Harpring on defending Nowitzki: Just smother him. Right when he turns, get up right into him where there’s no air space.
** Boler: Kanter, on a double-pump inside. Oh, with the muscle! The muscle of Kanter!
** Boler: Trey strokes it, a little deep. (H/T @5kl)
** Boler: Enes Kanter, banging it inside! (H/T Louis Allen)
** Boler: Favors hands it off to Trey. He’ll stop, pop, straight away. (H/T @JazzGameNight)
** Harpring: Nice job Trey, getting inside and finishing. (H/T @carlsston)
** Harpring on Nowitzki’s shot chart: Turn your head! You don’t want to look at it!
** Tyrone Corbin on Nowitzki: When you get it in his hand, it’s up in the air quick.
** Derrick Favors, on games against NBA stars: I get up for every playe–every game.

To close: Loved this Alec Burks reaction shot.
