Game 19 of 82: Utah Jazz vs. Houston Rockets (4-15)
Two wins in a row! The win streak is alive!
Marvin Williams’ dagger:
And it’s worth watching this shot go down a second time for Trey Burke’s reaction:
** Trey Burke, asked whether the way team has won the last couple of games, er, last two games, reveals the toughness and fight of the team
Absolutely. And I think that’s who we are becoming as a team. You know, hard-nosed team that is gonna compete, you know, for 48 minutes. You know, we understand that, you know, we have to play with each other. You know, we have the right pieces to compete in this league, to win.
** A very sniffly Marvin Williams on the impact of getting Trey Burke back
It’s been huge. It’s taken a lot of pressure off guys, especially Gordon [Hayward], I feel like. You know, Gordon was our primary playmaker when Trey was down, but now that Trey’s back, he can make plays and take a little bit of the pressure off Gordon and let him score more.
** Marvin on his chemistry with Richard Jefferson and whether they knew each other before
No, I didn’t know anything about RJ before, you know, we became teammates. You know, obviously playing against him, we played against each other many times when he was in New Jersey and I was in Atlanta. So you know, just older guys that have played basketball before, so you know to play, it’s easier to play with ‘em when you play with guys that know how to play basketball.
** Enes Kanter on whether he celebrated Thanksgiving
I didn’t celebrate…no turkey for Turkey.
** Kanter on his new role coming off the bench
You know, whatever, you know, coach give me. You know, come off the, came from the bench, or came the starting five, don’t matter. You know, you’re, in the end, you play for the Jazz, so.
** Kanter on whether he plans to trash talk Omer Asik in Turkish
No, no. I don’t, come on man. I don’t speak trash. I don’t speak trash.
Will you speak pleasantries to him on the court?
What does that mean?
Just nice stuff.
Someti–I say hi to him. But you know, on the court, there’s no friends, so.
** Kanter on whether it’s fun to play against other Turkish players
Yeah, definitely. Definitely. You know, you, it’s really, always good to see other, you know, other Turkish player on the court, playing in NBA. You know, it’s really, you know, to represent the country, it’s really important. (KALL)
** Tyrone Corbin on sharing the ball
As we continue to grow as a group of guys here, and see what we get in different situation, we share the ball the way we did tonight, we’ll continue to grow.
** Corbin on Trey Burke
You know, he’s getting more and more comfortable, you know, and the guy’s learning a lot, man, that, is, I’m excited for the success that he’s starting to have. But he has a lot to learn. He’s getting better™ every night he step out there on the floor. We’re throwing a lot of stuff at him. We’re putting a lot of responsibility on him, but he seem to be able to handle it, so as we continue to get better™, and he continue to get more used to what we’re looking for for him to do for us, we’ll continue to get better™.
** Corbin on the lineup that started the second quarter
We talked about them getting aggressive. They had their hands on us a little bit, and we got out of our offensive sets some. And they had us scouted a little bit there. So we gotta get better™ there. And you know, where we changed the rotation of how we subbed in the second half, but you know, we wanna be able to give guys a rest and get guys some minutes in different groups. And we gotta get better™ there. We didn’t, in that second quarter, I thought we struggled a little bit.
** Corbin on the same group finishing tonight as in the last game
Well, you know, it’ll change. The guys are playing well. I mean, that group finished well tonight, and you know, we look for everybody to be ready to go. And we’ll see how, what, how the game develop and what lineup give us the best chance to compete at the end, and the guys have been tremendous. They just gotta take what they get, and working as hard with the minutes they get, and that’s how we’re gonna continue to get better™.
Derrick Favors playing a game of grab-ass…with himself.
** Trey Burke on staying poised on the floor
The position I play, it’s critical for me to stay poised…I just try to stay poised, you know, make sure I’m confident in all my calls on the offensive end, you know, and try to execute.
** Alec Burks on what he learned about this team tonight
Nothing I already knew, you know? We play right, we gon play our game, you know, we get a win. We can play with a lot of people.
** Marvin Williams on guarding bigger guys
I spent time here and there at the “four” when I was in Atlanta, but not for an extended period of time. So this is my first time really, really playing that position. It’s difficult, man, but I feel like I’m a big, strong guy so I can kinda hold my own with a lot of those guys down there.
** Gordon Hayward on getting out of his shooting slump
Well, it was good to see the ball go in the hoop. I mean, that’s been bugging me recently, and just try to go out there and attack and play with confidence, and got going early, and so, I mean, that gives you a rhythm, and you know, just played freely out there. So that was good. (KALL, 1280)

** Trey Burke: You know, we understand that, you know, we have to play with each other. (H/T JFFR)

** Rockets announce Bill Worrell on Trey Burke: He’s got some big titties [tennies] to fill…Stockton here for so many years. (H/T @shao_tai)
** Harpring, apparently describing Harden’s O-face and O-body: There’s always contact with Harden. It looks like any time you touch him, he makes his head go back and his body jerks.
** Boler, not content to let Harpring do all the describing: He hides the ball as good as anyone, around his waist. And again, as you said, he throws his head back…
** Boler: If you got ‘em, use ‘em. Click ‘em. Buckle up.
** Boler: Harden muscles in. Burks covers up. Now, he starts the motor.
** Boler comparing Alec Burks to a Subway pastrami sub or something: He’s a big pastrami!
** Marvin on his mask: When I’m able to take it off, you better believe I’m taking it off.
** Marvin on his 3-point dagger: You know, I’m glad I just stayed there and I’m glad I stayed ready, ’cause I really thought [Hayward] was gonna shoot it. He was really going.
** Boler on the post-game show: Don’t touch me, Harpring. Oh, he’s bringing me a little “refreshment.” Thank you so much. I thought he was going to pull the “hankie” out of the pocket, looking for the “rabbit.” I don’t know where it’s been, Harpring. I’m not trusting you a bit.*
