What’s Happened to Enes Kanter’s Twitter? Part 2: Curiouser and Curiouser

September 10, 2013

What’s Happened to Enes Kanter’s Twitter? Part 1.

I guess it started with this, three days ago (via Sportando Basket, H/T @husasiz):

sportando

Since then it’s been a series of cryptic and disappearing (because he keeps deleting them) tweets.

These subtweet-sounding tweets (both since deleted) came the day after the tweet above:

beard

This one I didn’t even catch before it was deleted:

morse code

Then this one, which is still there:

yazik

Then this one, which was deleted but not before it got a scolding reply from Memo Okur:*

memo

And just now:

problems

In related news, Enes is following @utahjazz again…for now.

* After Memo tweeted Enes, he posted a picture on Instagram of Muhammad Ali with the line “Talent makes sportman famous but character makes legend.” (via Jazzfanz, H/T @dianaallen)

After reading this article, I’m now even more confused about what is happening to his Twitter. But ya, thanks I guess.

I think this is much worse than the pictures and flirting with various women from last year (which honestly I didn’t think was even bad).

Seems that Kanter is alienating his countrymen and showing poor judgment in continuing to egg people on.

Sounds like he wasn’t fond of the Turkish national team coach and was engaging in a bit of schadenfreude at their elimination. Immature? Yep.

I remember his national team coach was critical that he went to the NBA and said he would fail. There is bad blood between him and the coach. Here is the article. I am pretty sure its the same people. http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/23/enes-kanter%E2%80%99s-turkish-coach-say-he%E2%80%99s-not-nba-ready/

As far as I’m aware (FWIW):

      1) Those comments weren’t made by the national team coach, but by a technical coordinator on the team.

      2) The team reacted badly not because Enes said he wanted to stay in the U.S. to train that summer, but because he had already committed to the team and then failed to show up without giving them a reason.

Let’s pray Enes isn’t flat out turning into a Diva

Also Enes isn’t following Memo, which seems strange

Earlier this summer, he completely scrubbed his Twitter (following and tweets). At one point he wasn’t even following the Jazz anymore. Looks like he just starting following a few more accounts again, though obviously not Memo’s.

Thoughts?
