Game 70 Jazz at Mavericks: Roadkill
Getting outplayed and upstaged by every senior citizen in the league blows.
** Tyrone Corbin, post-game: Much respec’ and admiration for that group at the end there, just laying it out there. And it was a chance for us to work on a couple of timeout plays, after a timeout play to get something good.
** Corbin on the Mavericks: They got some good calls.
** Corbin on Alec Burks: After struggling in the first, not playing his best in the first half, I wanted to put him back in and see what he would do. And I thought he did a great job of just relaxing and playing at the end of the ball game…I put him in a tough situation at times. He’s not a point guard.
** Corbin: We have to find a way to get better.
Random Stuff, etc.
** There was some swinging going on in the broadcast tonight as Derek “You go live in Utah” Harper, who works on the Mavericks broadcast, briefly swapped places with Matt Harpring in the 2nd quarter.
During his time with Craig Bolerjack, Harper stuttered and stammered his way through an explanation of “You go live in Utah,” with choice sound bytes including:
“Things could be taken out of context a lot of times, and this clearly was in that situation…It just came across wrong. Who wouldn’t want to play with John Stockton, Karl Malone, and for Jerry Sloan?”
“I love Utah. I would’ve loved to have the opportunity. Timing wasn’t right. Timing is everything in this league.”
“I loooooove Utah, I promise you. I enjoyed the city* every time I get the opportunity to play there.”
* Unless you are Karl Malone, you do not get to refer to Utah as a city.
P.S. Matt Harpring came back to the Jazz broadcast looking like this:
Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night (UDQM)
** Harpring: It’s good to see Hayward get off.
** Harpring on Big Al: He’s a load.
** Harpring on replay of Favors dunk in San Antonio: Coming over you, over the red rocket…
** Harpring to Boler: I’ve been too long on you this trip.
** Boler: Jefferson felt the pressure, the body of Brandan Wright.
** Harpring: Hopefully Big Al will continue to dominate down low.
** Harpring on Vince Carter: Hayward’s trying to bump him up high. That’s not really the technique you want.
** Harpring on Favors: Dirk will give him what he wants. He can go back to the right hand, where he’s more comfortable, and shoot an easier shot for himself.
** Boler: Marion up high for the tip-in.
** Boler on Ty technical: Sidney Lowe jumps in front, tries to pull him off.
** Boler: Carroll looked like he was riding the back of Morrow.
