Game 30 Jazz vs. Warriors: Ugh. Mark Jackass gets a win.

I have a headache, which may or may not have been exacerbated by the game. Just (re)watch this, which redeems any and all time you wasted watching this game*:

* Watch Tyrone Corbin leisurely strolling over to the scrum. He didn’t want nobody touching his giant suit.

Enes Kanter tried to warn us. He tried to warn us not to watch the second half…

Shootaround Quotage
** Gordon Hayward on the road trip: I think going in, we knew it was going to be a difficult road trip with the, you know, quality of teams that we were gonna play. So the fact that we came out .500 was pretty good.
** Jamaal Tinsley on the road trip: You always want to go 4-0, but you know, anytime you can get 2-2, we’ll take it.
** Al Jefferson on the road trip: 3-1 would’ve been a good road trip, and 4-0 would’ve been a great road trip, but you know, I could settle for 2-2.

Post-Game Quotage
** Jarrett Jack (as, for some reason, Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” blares in the ESA): I remember one thing Coach Jerry Sloan said in the paper. He said you can’t play this game in a tuxedo…so you gotta be ready to get down, get dirty, get gritty, and that’s just the type of player I’ve been since I started playing this game.

** Derrick Favors: I hate losing. I hate it. You know, especially against, anybody, you know what I’m saying? I hate losing, and I hate putting out a bad effort. You know, I like to play hard and you know, give it my all, and go out there and try to win the game, but you know, I hate losing. Leave a bad taste in my mouth, and I just hate it.
** Favors on Jarrett Jack: He walked up on Enes, so I just walked up on him…We friends in the summertime and off the court, but you know, on the court we enemies.

** Tyrone Corbin on whether it was a case of bad shot selection or bad shooting: Bad shooting. Little early, few shots early, the zone, I, I thought we bailed them out by taking early shots…The shots looked good, but they weren’t, they weren’t going in.
** Corbin on whether he’s having second thoughts on giving the players two days off: No. No. It is what it is…You had to do whatever you had to do to get yourself ready.
** Corbin on whether this is just a loss or does he need to re-evaluate himself: It’s a loss. You know, whatever you want to call it. Whatever you guys want to call it. It’s one loss.

** Gordon Hayward on whether it was a case of bad shot selection or bad shooting: The zone did what it was supposed to do. It kind of forced us to take jump shots, and for whatever reason we didn’t step up and shoot them to make it. A lot of times we were just shooting it.
** Earl Watson: [How does this offense become more consistent and productive?] I’m not sure. You know, that’s something for the coaches to figure out. It’s just up for us to execute whatever is taught to us.
** Randy Foye: We just couldn’t get nothing to go. It wasn’t anything that, you know, we did terrible besides to turn the ball over. I just think that we, we just didn’t make shots.
** Paul Millsap: I don’t think guys took shots that they were given, but it didn’t go in…We took a lot of them. We took a lot of jump shots.

** Watson: Our style of play has to be like the old Jazz [under Jerry Sloan]*. I remember coming in here and you play here and you knew that guys were gonna hit you. You knew you was gonna get hit in the paint. You knew it was gonna be very physical. You knew if you don’t put in your mouthpiece, you could lose teeth…We have to have a dominance to where our identity is that.
** Watson: [What can the team do to get that identity?] I don’t know. Coaches will figure that part out. It’s just up for us as a team to, to individually and collectively kind of bring that to the table.
** Millsap on what Earl said: If we can get back to that, you know, we’d be great…We don’t have the personnel like we did then, you know, so I mean, it’ll be tough. But I think we can do it.

* I’m editorializing, but the Jazz that Earl is talking about is Jerry Sloan’s Jazz.

Random Stuff, etc.
** A sight for sore eyes: Jerry Sloan was at the game.

jerry

** Random question: Why is it that every time the Jazz face a zone, it’s like the first time they’re ever encountering a zone?
** Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night (UDQM)
** Brown on David Lee: It’s his off hand, but his favorite hand.
** Harpring: I loved playing with Mark Jackson. (H/T @D_West5)
** Harpring: I love Big Al going to the hole. He’s gone in strong three times already.
** Harpring: This second group has a tough time finishing tonight.
** Brown: Millsap forces one inside and scores.
** Thurl Bailey on Favors’ scuffling: Usually it’s one of the little guys that’s coming.
** Harpring on rebounding: I’m gonna get on Hayward here a little bit…you gotta go up with two hands and grab the ball. You can’t be afraid of contact. Go up and grab it.
