Game 13 Jazz vs. Kings: Well, win.

Oh Jazz. What am I going to do with you? On the one hand, you’re winning. On the other, you’re playing some of the ugliest basketball I have seen in my 20 years of Jazz fandom. On the third hand, you’re winning…but over really bad teams. Does barely winning supercede ugliness and poor competition, and is it a bandaid covering some major holes that need to be addressed?

** Favors on Jamaal Tinsley: He comes in, he’s not really looking to score. He looking to get everybody else involved first, so he’s a big help. He also keep other players ready by talking to them on the bench or doing whatever, setting an example.

** People still calling Alec Burks “Alex”: Ron Boone.
** Earl Watson’s return to the active roster couldn’t have been timelier, as Mo Williams sprained an ankle. Kevin Murphy was the odd man out on the active list.
** Favors had more offensive rebounds than anyone else on either team had total rebounds. And more offensive rebounds than the entire Kings team.
** Tinsley’s assist numbers always make me smile.
** Gordo shaved.

** Harpring on the Kings: They don’t shoot straight all the time.
** Steve Brown: Tyreke Evans going down the lane one more time.
** Brown: Look at Tyreke Evans. Again it wouldn’t go down for him, but look at that penetration.
** Brown on a Millsap free throw: Just listing a little bit to the left.
** Brown on Hayward: He can’t finish it, but he’s going to the line to get a pair.
** Harpring on Favors: He’s worked on the left hand. He actually prefers the left hand now.
** Harpring: This is what you love to see from Big Al. Defensive end, getting up.
** Kings commentator on Evans: I know there was a big smile on Geoff Petrie’s face. That was a sweet stroke.

The Jazz are still looking for their game on O, but I actually thought they played fairly decent D. I mean, how many contested long jumpers did the Kings hit in that game? To me, that and our awful offense were the two major reasons they were in the game.
ILP had the Kings broadcasters last night. I can’t see those guys without remembering them crying when it looked like the team would move.
I think Hayward officially moved past Ginobili on the list of top transition defenders.
All excellent points. The Kings hit some pretty incredible shots. We’ve had games of good defense, and games of good (or decent) offense. Just waiting for that game where it all clicks together, while understanding that it will take time to happen.
That moment you mentioned on the Kings broadcast is the one that will forever stick in my mind too. They’re definitely one of the less homer-y crews I’ve heard.
And yes, aggressive Hayward is pretty awesome.
