Game 8 Jazz at Raptors: _________

November 13, 2012

I can’t decide between “Robbed of 4OT” and “Big F***ing Al” for the title of the post. So pick or come up with your own.

Tyrone Corbin deserves credit for not only adjusting his rotations and having the balls to play Derrick Favors late in the game, but also for making offensive/defensive substitutions down the stretch.

We can also thank our lucky stars that Jazz Killer emeritus Linas Kleiza fouled out 40 seconds into the first OT.

Big Al Jefferson’s shot to send the game into overtime:

Randy Foye jumping on Big Al after the shot, and Enes Kanter’s bench reaction to the shot:

It was a GREAT win. Great enough to almost (almost, but not quite) wipe out the suckswamp that is the memory of the first 3.5 quarters. Anyone that did watch the first 3.5 quarters has to be concerned about a teamwide lack of preparedness, mental fortitude, and/or focus. And you have to wonder how much of that is on the coaching staff.

P.S. Why was Enes on all fours on the floor in front of the bench at the end of the game, with the Jazz’s assistant trainer petting him like a dog?

Random Stuff, etc.
** This game was also the debut of…

** Sidney Lowe does not get enough attention for the hugeness of his own pants:

** The optical illusion thingies that the Raptors have on their baselines are kinda cool…

Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night (UDQM)
** Harpring on Big Al: He’s a big load down there.
** Boler: Millsap banged inside, no call.
** Boler: Favors laying on the back of Bargnani, good D.
** Harpring: I need a “confrontation” every now and then, Boler. Boler: We can make that happen.
** Boler: Favors getting a hand up from Kanter.
** Harpring on Favors: I don’t think he even realizes how long he is.
** Harpring: Length, LENGTH, athleticism, just raw ability in Favors.
** Boler: Favors, up, and, in! Beautiful move on both ends.
** Boler on Big Al: He beat it the last time we were in town.
** Harpring on Hayward checking in: Put in your length. (H/T @bjcseven)
** Boler: Al has played 44 minutes. Harpring: I’ve gone 58. You’ve gone about 52. Boler: Oh, I took a little break. Harpring: Yeah, a little snooze. I caught you a couple times.
** Boler: We’re almost three hours in.
** Tyrone Corbin on Favors: He went into his body a little bit on the pump fake. Other than that, I think he did a great job.

haha, glad you got the “Length” quote from Harpring. I was going to tweet it at you. I heard it something like this…

“Length, just…(awkward pause, possible jealous daydreaming and endless awe)…LENGTH (continued drooling)…athleticism, just raw ability (still thinking about his length) in Favors.”

I did a poor job of conveying the pauses and obvious thought process behind the UDQM. You did an excellent job.

Gotta be “Big F***ing Al.” I don’t remember laughing in disbelief like I have as that shot went in.

I am so pleased that Ty’s been showing some encouraging signs in his game management.

It is funny how Valanciunas was killing Big Al on the pick and roll and their coach never put him back, even relying on Gray!

I am not sure how much of the desinterested play is on the coaching staff, because on different games it was different groups of 5 that underperformed. And last night, frankly, there was some awesome shot making by Toronto that has to be accounted for.

The encouraging signs are extremely, extremely, extremely pleasing.

I really wanted to see some Valanciunas vs. Kanter…maybe next time.
