Game 42 at PHX: Steve Nash is a fine wine

March 15, 2012

I love watching Steve Nash play. I love watching a pure, pass-first point guard running the offense and picking and rolling and dishing the ball to his teammate for an easy bucket the exact moment you thought to yourself, “He’s got nowhere to go.”

Steve Nash and his four shots dominated the game, and the Jazz had no answer for him. Virtually ever shot the Suns took in the final 1.5 quarters was a completely open shot. On the plus side, Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter were both impressive. This has a way of completely reversing itself from one game to the next, so I won’t be making any declarations about them having “turned the corner” or other such nonsense. They looked good against the Suns; that’s it.

I love Earl Watson and had a “Nooooooooo, not Earl!!” moment when he went down, but losing him likely did not hurt the Jazz’s chances of winning this particular game with Jamaal Tinsley stepping in and playing the way he did.

Side note: Did this sight give anyone else horrible, horrible flashbacks of Memo?

In conclusion: The product being put on the floor by Tyrone Corbin simply is not a very good product. It has good components and peripheral parts, but it is not well-assembled. I don’t know what else to say.

Quotage
** Tyrone Corbin, post-game: Referees call it the way they see it. … 32-17 free throws just don’t seem to be right, especially for a perimeter-oriented team. But you know, it is what it is, man. (KFAN)

Random Stuff, etc.
** So happy for you, buddy. So happy you’re getting so many more endorsements and have such better relationships than you did in Utah. Skullcandy, Nike, Vitamin Water, Got Milk, and Bailey’s Moving and Storage were so not enough for one guy.

** I’ve been describing Enes Kanter’s shot as “a Care Bear volleyballing a cloud.” Happened to get an action shot of said shot:

** Finally, gif of Jamaal’s flop by request of @My_Lo:

Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night (UDQM)
** Harpring on Harris’ 3-pointer: How about that shot, Boler? Boler: Long. Deep.
** Boler: Nash penetrates, ball’s loose.
** Harpring on Gortat: Shot clock didn’t bother him. He continued with his move.
** Boler: Forget the right hand, he’s a left hand slammer! (H/T @bjcseven)
** Harpring: Kanter’s just filling it up.
** Boler on Millsap’s steal: Millsap with 69 on the season. (H/T @bjcseven)
** Boler: Dudley so far this half has been bone dry.
** Harpring: Lots of banging inside with Millsap. (H/T @bjcseven)
** Boler: How about Tinsley…beat it at the buzzer. (H/T @bjcseven)
** Millsap on defending the Suns, post-game: You gotta pick and choose your timing and see who you wanna let get off.
