PSA: Don’t make fun of Matt Harpring’s hair. Matty don’t like it.

March 9, 2012

On the talk about his hair

No, it’s irritated me since Day 1…[It's not Boler.] It’s kinda been everyone else. I don’t understand it, but whatever. When I played, I could never play with long hair with it flapping in your eyes and when you sweat. I just couldn’t do that. Now that I’m not playing, my wife likes my hair a little bit long, so she gets my hair a little bit long. If she liked it short, it’d be short. (KFAN)

Interesting. Matt also uses the ol’ “my wife likes it” bit used by Andrei Kirilenko to explain his bad hair.

Speaking of which, everyone needs to watch the highlights below from a 2004 game between the Jazz and the Nuggets–for the awful hair.

Apart from Carmelo Anthony’s cornrows, Andre Miller’s fro, and Keith McLeod’s braids, you also get to see Andrei and Memo sporting such badly-executed frosted tips that I’m certain they did each other’s hair during a road trip to Milwaukee or something.

Inset left to right: Good Hair Matt Harpring, Frosted Tips Memo Okur, Pre-Fame Kris Humphries, and Young Raja Bell.

Plus, vintage AK highlights and the dulcet tones of Hot Rod on the call. Good times.

I blame my wife for everything too.

Thanks for the awesome video. LOVE seeing old games.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I miss AK.

The AK game made me feel really sad. Seeing how great he was when he could just do his thing.

And knowing we have another misplaced SF who is just so much better if the team can just say: “Here’s the ball. Just do your thing.”

And for the record, Harpring’s hair isn’t awful because it’s kind of long. It’s awful because it’s cut weird—as if the whole point is to emphasize the roundness of his ear.
