Leftovers: The Return of Kyle aka Korver vs. Hayward

It’s the off-season. I know nothing about the draft. I don’t have new uniforms or Hall of Fame inductions to post about. Hence, leftovers.

This probably would’ve been part of the game recap on Feb. 9 when the Bulls visited the Jazz for the first time since the incorporation of Jazz East. For obvious reasons (“This is like the Pope Death Watch back in 2005″), I was too busy panicking after the game to write a real recap.

So, here we go with belated coverage of Kyle Korver’s return to Salt Lake City:

Back in November, KSL’s Alex Kirry sat down with Gordon Hayward and asked Gordon if he wanted to replace Kyle as the heartthrob of the Jazz. Hayward responded, “You can put me down, sure.”

When Kyle and the Bulls arrived in SLC to play the Jazz on 2/9, a high percentage of the questions he was asked was about his effect on the female population, promptng him to respond, “How come you keep asking me questions about girls? Every question you’ve asked me about has been about girls!”

That night, with 10:11 left in the 2nd quarter, Kyle and Gordon checked into the game together. There were a lot of cheers, but surprisingly many boos as well.

On Twitter, Jazz fans (and beat writers) came up with various explanations for the booing:

Kyle ended the night with 5 points (including one 3-point Korgasm), 1 rebound, 1 block, 1 TO, and 2 fouls in 19 minutes while Gordon ended the night with 0 points, 1 rebound, 2 TOs, and 2 fouls in 5 minutes.
