Game 58 @DAL: 2004
The game after Jerry resigned, the Jazz came out and blasted Phoenix…for one quarter. Tonight, it was a game for 2+ quarters. Right from the intros, Raja was clearly making a special effort to be positive with the other guys: hi-fiving, cheering everyone on, talking to all the guys. Loved that he recognized the need for that, and the leadership he brings.
Whether it physical fatigue from having guys out or emotional fatigue from the trade, the Jazz began throwing up bad jumpers in the 3rd and the Mavs’ lead grew accordingly.
I found that I feel completely comfortable with Earl as the main PG. We were shorthanded at the position with Ronnie P out, and therefore had AK running the point for most of the game when Earl was on the bench. I’ve been waiting since R2 of the 2007 Playoffs for more AK at point-forward, and while you expect a half-and-half mix of awesome, flashy basketball and facepalm turnovers, AK actually accounted for only 2 of the Jazz’s 20 TOs.
With the way that Deron’s been playing of late, I don’t think that the Jazz played any worse than if he had been there. This may apply only in the short term and maybe we’re in for a [continued] string of losses, but as long as the Jazz fight and compete, I’m ok.
Random Stuff, etc.
** From The Utah Jazz Blog: Deron talking to Boler/FSN/whoever about being traded (video).
** Chris Paul, STFU. You’re part of the problem, not the solution. It’s whiny players like you that created the current stars-holding-teams-hostage NBA landscape, so zip it.
** Mark Jackson’s NBA career, summed up:
Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night
** Matty: Raja’s rubbed off on the team a little.
** Matty: You got more tissues? Boler: I’m just peeling away.
** Boler: There’s Brian Cardinal. He likes to bang around.

Thank heavens we have Raja and the leadership Deron was unable to provide our team!
I LOVE seeing AK at the point!
I want to know what you think about the trade too!!
Gigantic LOL at the Mark Jackson graphic. Love it.
