Game 29 @CLE: Bell-Miles Torch > Cavs Sword

December 21, 2010

Antawn Jamison can’t believe AK’s hair.

Memo was out with a tweaked ankle after tripping over a bag Fes during warmups. Sounds like a joke, right? [Relatively] Good news is that it was the other leg.

Though there were many bad jump shots thrown up to start the game (I hear myself; I know I sound like a broken record), it wasn’t exactly a slow start because the Jazz and Cavs were scoring at the same pace. In any case, I was unable to unwrap the plastic on the new uncomplimentary “Jazz starter” acronym that came to me yesterday.

Raja, however, was on fire in the first and CJ was nice and hot as well in the second. The game didn’t really heat up until the third, when the Jazz slowly but steadily began pulling away. All of a sudden, I looked up and the Jazz were up 20. I really didn’t know when that happened, but Clintonite33 (in the SLC Dunk game thread) did:

The D Will 3 that pushed it to 12, followed by the pair of dunks that pushed it to 16 at the start of the 4th

At the end of the night, Deron had his usual 17&10, Jeffersap had a quiet 35&20, AK had a lot of missed jumpers but some smoking assists, and Fran was his usual awesome self. Question: Is SWARM dead? (sob)

Random Notes, etc.:
** With this win, Jerry tied Pat Riley as the 3rd winningest coach in NBA history. Predictably, he was most unimpressed when he was informed of this during the post-game:

To quote BBJ, “Sloan [reflected] on that accomplishment for all of about .121 seconds before proceeding to care even less about it.” And that’s why we love him. In related news, Eric Spoelstra is out there praying that Riley doesn’t get wind of this.

** It was nice seeing Mo Williams go over and say hello to the Jazz coaches before tip-off. He’s had nothing but good things to say about his one year in Utah, and even said a couple of years ago that Jerry taught him how to be a point guard.

** The last time the Jazz won in Cleveland, it was 2004 and these were the starting lineups:

Is that the Eric Williams that shows up on “Basketball Wives”? Because I have no recollection of that guy as an NBA player.

** Didn’t know Gary Briggs was with the Cavs before the Jazz. They showed some old, old footage of Young Briggs during the broadcast:

** We’ve got our first streak of the month going! Two wins in a row. Woo.

Unintentional Dirty Quote Machines of the Night
** Boler: Deron Williams–he is longer than people give him credit for.

That is the best unintentional dirty quote ever!
Same thing for me. One minute I looked at the score and we were up by 20.
I know it was only the Cavs, but last nights game made me very happy:) We looked like a team again.

Good game, nice to see the boys put out for a full 48 minutes.

My new tactic so far has worked for the last two games, last night it was shoveling snow for 1st qtr. Finishing up dinner qtr 2, dishes for most of the third, switched to football a bit, but oh what a booooooring game! So hung with the Jazz for the 4th.

    Good game though.
