Playoffs R2G3 vs LAL: AK returns, and my heart explodes in adoration

May 9, 2010

Even as Gasol scored on Boozer for the nth time, I couldn’t stop smiling.

Double 0-47 is back.

My love for AK burns with the intensity of 47 suns.

A to the MF’ing K, bitches!

He even did his hair.

And so on and so forth.

A song from “Grease” was intermittently running through my head all morning.

I got chills.
They’re multiplyin’.
And I’m losin’ control.
‘Cause the power
you’re supplyin’,
it’s electrifyin’!

You better shape up,*
’cause I need a man
and my heart is set on you.
You better shape up;*
you better understand
to my heart I must be true.

*fitting because AK is supposed to be out of game shape

I really did have chills when AK checked in to 20,000 people cheering.

AK made his presence felt right away. In his first seven-minute stint on the court in 1+ month, he scored four points, collected four boards (3 offensive), and blocked a shot. And it felt so good. Andrei ended up with 8 points (4-7), 6 boards, 1 steal and 1 block in 17 minutes. And I’m so happy.

Oh yeah, there was a game. What a buzzkill.

We lost and are now down 0-3 in the series. Which is no more or less than expected. As long as the Boozer-on-Gasol matchup exists, we will never get past the Lakers. That’s all there is to it. There are opponents/players that Boozer dominates, but he is simply overmatched here.

If Kyle Korgasm hadn’t been out of his shooting mind (9-10 and 5-5 from downtown), and without the contributions of Millsap, who was and is the only Jazz big able to score inside, this would have been a blowout.

From the just sayin’ files: So far in this series, Boozer has shot 5 FTs in 117.5 minutes (and only made 2). Millsap, on the other hand, has shot 16 FTs in 106 minutes (and made 13).

Well, enough about the game. Let’s look at some pictures.

I have new respect for Pau Gasol. It can’t be easy simultaneously making ugly faces aka playing in games while also providing commentary for Deportes. His job is made all the harder by the fact that Deportes teamed him up with Jeff Van Gundy (Coach JVG >>>>> Commentator JVG).

I finally understand what Kobe sees in Va Nes Sa and why he isn’t embarrassed to be seen with her in public:

Awesome posters in the stands:

ABC showed footage of Phil Jackass’s playing career. It is clear to me that Pau Gasol decided the best way to get playing time was employing an “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” strategy.

Aaaaaaaaaaand, that’s all I got for now.
