Playoffs R1G2 @ DEN: All hail Jerry Sloan

April 20, 2010

Sorry. For the first time all season, I’m going to cop out with the game recap (which is different from the times I was too disgusted to write more than a few F’s or whatever). I’m just soooooo spent.

Ninja was straight ninja (I’ll forgive–only because we won–the 7 TOs in exchange for 16-18 FTs). Boozer was conflagrating in the first half (I’ll forgive the failure of his second half due to the degree of conflagration in the first). Fes held it down inside and power-rocked the rim like it hasn’t been power-rocked since #32 was in uniform. Sap was huge on both ends of the court down the stretch. CJ hit shots and FTs under pressure. OMSW and CJ played hip (body part not adjective) D on Melo like good ol’ former football player Matty taught them pre-game. Hottie Korver’s hustling down the floor to get that charge and big shots won the game. And Kyle’s [attempt at] dribbling at the end of the game…comedy gold.

Let’s all bow down to Jerry (while giving the refs the finger. I HATE that in today’s NBA, the merest whisper of contact is a foul. By the end, I felt like I was at some theater watching a slapstick comedy with whistle-blowing mimes. LET THEM PLAY!!!!).

All the random notes I jotted down during the game about playing at the Nuggets’ tempo all helter skelter and scrambling, TOs, why the F is every other pass getting deflected…all that stuff–torn up and gone. Our boys, they got heart (sometimes). And they had it tonight, when it counted.

Man…I soooooo want to jump on a plane for SLC.

P.S. I’m not doing opponent game threads for the series. I read through Denver Stiffs’ game thread after Game 1, and while there are of course good fans in the community, there was just too much hate and unclassiness. Particularly when Rockets fans stopped by to up the unclassiness ante.

Always a fan of your posts! I felt really good about this game…once it was over! While I thought we would pull it out, there were times when I felt it slipping away. Props to the Jazz for sticking with it, and felt like we received some great leadership from Deron!

appreciate it rog! this one was just an emotional (not to mention respiratory and cardiovascular) roller coaster. can’t give our boys enough credit for hanging in there til the end.

Tough hard basketball was played last night and amazingly as hard as they tried, the reffs could not destroy it.

Bouncy shared some of the crap going on over at stiffs, it was not pretty at all. Let them stew in their own garbage.

Yes is was a great cardio workout for all of us.

Deron set a record that has not been equaled since 1967!
