Game 76 vs. GSW: Hustle and Flow

April 1, 2010
High-kicking our way into a win.

Last season’s debacle ranks, in my opinion, among the Top Three Worst Moments of My Life Jazz Losses in History. That the Warriors again came to play with eight (which fell to seven) players made me, quite honestly, unfull of hope and grumpy.

The Jazz came out scrambling and flustered, i.e. they absolutely got sucked into the Dubs’ style of play. If Boozer hadn’t been on fire (7-9 in the first), we could’ve been in serious trouble. I know the first quarter score (40-26) fails to lend credence to my words, but not everthing shows up in the box score.

In the second, the Jazz blew the game wide open with Korgasms galore and Money raining down. With three minutes remaining in the half, the Jazz had five players in double figures, and Deron (11 assists at the time) wasn’t even one of them. In the second half, each team followed its own first-half trajectory and the buzzer sounded with a 24-point Jazz win.

Some wild and wacky stats:
–The Dubs actually took more shots and FTs than we did.
–Deron had six more assists than the Warriors.
–We had 37 assists on 46 FGs.
–If your name is Williams, you couldn’t buy a bucket tonight (Deron: 2-10; Reggie: 4-15/0-8 from downtown).
The Cavs shot 45 FTs to the Bucks 9. In fact, LBJ shot more FTs than the Bucks. (OK, so that has nothing to do with the Jazz, but on behalf of the Bucks, WTF?????)

Some random notes and observations:
–The Warriors bench was one of the funniest sights I have ever seen. There were more coaches than players, and at one point, Curry (with five fouls) was sitting there all by his lonesome.

–Everyone breathed a sigh of relief to see that Nellie wasn’t going topless again.
–Nellie post-game: “Well, we’re not a very good team, period. Look at our record, our road record is even worse.”
–Much of the final quarter was–literally–a D-League game. OK, maybe a D-League All-Star Game.
–Korver dunked. Yay!
–If I didn’t know better and you’d’ve told me that Deron was Curry’s dad, I would have believed you. Curry looks insanely young, and made DWill look old when they were standing next to each other.
