Game 9 @ Philly: For one night, the Jazz look like a team
We all know that when a team’s star player unexpectedly can’t play, the rest of the team often steps up and gets the win. I didn’t think this would be the case for the Jazz.
I’m happy to be proven wrong.
For the first time all season, and maybe for the first time in eight months, the Jazz looked and played like a team. Everyone was giving up the ball. AK was his usual do-it-all self, and Brewer and Sap finally played like their heads were in the game and their minds weren’t elsewhere. Rook duo M&M was steady and solid, with New Matty hitting 3-4 treys and Maynor racking up 13 & 11. Memo hit some nice shots. Boozer had an actual impact double-double, and was more aggressive and went to the hole more than we’ve seen. This was a good, good game.
I need to say/stress/reiterate, however, that this W does not change the need for change…
Thoughts and prayers go out to the Williams family.
P.S. Maybe it’s cheering fans that are the problem. I was blown away by how empty the arena was.
