The Internet, it is a-buzzing with AK to GS rumors

Enough with the AK for Maggette/Crawford talk already (1, 2, 3, 4, en Francais). Seriously people. Do we really want another defense-free, injury-prone Dukie? Sure, Bad Porn is probably less noisy [er...on the court], but much like Boozer, Maggette has yet to play all 82 games in his 10-year career. He has only played in 640 of 820 games in his career, which gives him an attendance rate that is 3% higher than Boozer’s. As for Crawford, he can score, sure. But he is a career 40.4% shooter. Three times in his career, he shot under 40% for the season. Now, I may be old and past it, but I’ve always taken pride in our NBA-leading FG% and I abhor chucking. Therefore, adding a SWAC to the team does not seem to be a great idea.

AK isn’t playing as well as he once did–I don’t dispute that (note that I am not saying he isn’t as good a player as he once was). But he’s still the best defender we have. If we trade him, we’d be the Suns x100. Unimaginable as it is to anyone that has watched Jazz games this year, imagine us even worse defensively. His presence on the floor changes the face of the team completely. So can we please stop talking about trading AK? It upsets me greatly.

[I don’t know why I’m so attached to AK. Maybe it’s because of what he [can] bring(s) to the floor every night. Maybe it’s because he’s a joy to watch. Maybe it’s because he singlehandedly prevented mass suicides in ’03-’04. Maybe it’s because he can do stuff that no one else can. All I know is, if KOC traded DWill for LBJ (LBJ being a player the team would –conceivably– trade DWill for if they had to for some incredible reason), I don’t think I would go out and buy a DWill Cavs jersey. But if the Jazz traded AK, that would probably be the first time in my life I purchase another team’s jersey, even though it would kill me to see him in that jersey.]
