Fairweather fans. Do you know how ridiculous and sorryass you are? Your team has been run into the ground by the sexual harassment-prone team president and coach, and will be bogged down by huge contracts for years to come (being paid to players who haven’t been on your roster in years)

and yet you go to games, decked out in your blue and orange gear, not sure which team is yours or who the home team is playing…you boo when everyone else boos and cheer when everyone else cheers. and while giving a standing ovation over something one of those guys in shorts down there did (because everyone else around you is standing and clapping), how soon you forgot that just two days ago, you were booing the same people so lustily it seemed like you knew why and who you were booing.

the only “fans” (and i use the term loosely) more sorryass than you are the b-list celebrities with fake boobs on the other side of the country, trying to get on TV and attending games in the hopes of getting some publicity.

Possibly the culmination of my 15-year career as a Jazz fan:

Stayed up from 2-5 a.m. last nite to listen (listen–NOT watch) to the broadcast of Utah at Detroit (and let’s not forget to add my aging body into this equation as evidence of my devotion).

Thankfully, they won, and thankfully, didn’t have work today and could sleep all afternoon.

Ridiculously unprofessional biased NBA commentators (e.g. “This is a beeeeeeeeeautiful finish…[2 minutes later, in a mere wisp of a whisper] it just didn’t go down for Monta.”)

Best thing about the season starting?
(not counting the Jazz being back in action, cuz that goes without saying)

New “episodes” of Inside the NBA, of course.

I am so pumped about this season! I listened to Game 1/82 vs. the Dubs online and I’m pretty sure everyone at work thinks I’m crazy but oh well. Dubs got their asses whupped and I am so in love with my guys. Whoohoo!!

On a separate note, I found myself exhibiting some seriously messed up behavior when I realized that I was half-hoping for Okur to not have a great game because he is the one Jazz starter that managed to get away from me during [my very first--eek!] fantasy draft. As it turns out, he didn’t have even an OK game, but I must remind myself that reality comes first, then fantasy.

Henry Abbott over at TrueHoop says:

I think that if I actually knew anything about any of the other 28 teams, I’d so be in the second category. Lack of aformentioned knowledge prevents me from being in the second category, though I’m finding that I definitely have that tendency. Good thing I don’t have a real job or nuthin’.
