The NBA: Where No Credibility Happens
July 24, 2007
David Stern blamed a “rogue, isolated criminal” Tuesday for a betting scandal that has devastated the league and threatened the credibility of every referee. / Stern said he believed no other officials or players would be implicated in the betting scandal.
Translation: Since it was a “rogue, isolated criminal” and “no other officials or players would be implicated,” we will not be doing anything to either prevent this from happening again or investigating further. Since it was an isolated “criminal” working on his own who caused this incident.
Sure Dave, suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure. We believe you. Especially since you and your cronies in the head office always always always hold refs accountable and never ever just leap to their defense blindly and fine people who dare tell the truth by criticizing their shoddy and/or mafia-influenced calls.
