My love for the Jazz was tested by the 3:30 a.m. game start time, but I decided to do it. Put myself down for a nap around midnight and got up to go see whether the game was being shown on TV (it was!)
Ended up watching the Spurs get away with murder and the officials doing their job (working for the Spurs). On the plus side, the commentators (some guy, Van Gundy, and Mark Jackson) couldn’t stop raving about D-Will. Jackson said that before the game, he went up to D-Will and told him, “I really like to watch you play.” D-Will responded, “I liked watching you play too.” Jackson then said that he had to go call his kids, because they think he’s just a commentator.
D-Will racked up a career high in points (34), and had 9 dimes and 7 boards. He also had an awesome awesome dunk.
Jackson, however, will always be (to me) the guy that *possibly* was the impetus behind Stock’s decision to retire in ‘03 due to *reportedly* creating so much division in the locker room.
Anyway, it got me thinking–I think Stock must hold the all-time record for most backups…
Off the top of my head: Crotty, Arroyo, Eisley, Jackson, Jacque Vaughn, Starks…I’m sure there are more but at this advanced age, my memory fails me at times.

Is Paul Millsap’s nickname really “Postal Boy,” or did the Chinese commentators make that up? Regardless, he’s a monster on the boards.
The best part of the watching the game is when they’re going to commercial during a timeout or end of quarter and for the five seconds before the commercial starts, the Chinese commentators’ feed is shut off and you can hear the English commentators for a moment and you feel so blessed.

This may only pertain to this point in time, but this past week when I was in China, I was able to go without checking my email for eight days. However, every chance there was to get online, I *had* to hit espn, cnnsi, foxsports, dime magazine, yahoo sports, the salt lake tribune, and deseret news.
